Title: Are the MTA and LU servers still up?
Post by: Kowalski. on October 21, 2017, 03:06:34 am
I noticed that I can read old MTA and LU topics, are the servers still up? I don't know if they are but it'd be nice to know.

That's a shame, what happened?

LU client is pretty much dead, the developers haven't updated it ages ago. As for the server, it ceased development for uknown reasons, probably the scripters lost interest.

As for MTA:VC, the server was stagnating for quite a few years, without any players whatsoever, and regardless of its Manager promising to "refresh it" some time soon, it just sat there, wasting server space, so it was shut down as it was obviously inactive.

LU developers actually joined VC:MP developers implementing LC map and shiz to VC:MP (which they did successfully). <-- The actual developers of the client itself, not argo scripters

LU never got the scripts up and running properly and (I'm not sure as of now) it's development has ceased to exist completely.

MTA:VC client is 100% dead and to be fair, the client is shit. I would not suggest anyone to play that.

I agree in terms of MTA but I think that the LU servers should be reopened and developed.

It should not. The client itself is no longer worked on. Opening a server for a dead mod is not the wisest move.

Yeah. This will just be a waste of resources. Btw LU will have badder graphics plus scripts won't be made instantly and also people don't really play that anymore.
Instead of LU server focus on IVMP T4.
VCMP is way better than MTA and so we don't need that also

I said developed, so it's revived.

I like to believe LU and IVMP are totally different. Even though they use the name Liberty City, they have their own nostalgia. LU is unfortunately not very populated, which seems seems to be a problem with every new project in Argo.

GTA III's Liberty City is so much better than the one in IV. They're both two completely different places.

Its not about having a good PC, the port for GTA IV in general is pure shit. Sure, I can run it 100 fps+ with my setup but its still shit

Sorry for that comment. I take my words back

The difference between III's Liberty City and IV's is that in IV (at least in my opinion), Rockstar Games has tried making every aspect of it as a parody of the American lifestyle and of what New York simply is. Also, let's not mention Rockstar's Easter Eggs scattered all over the map, especially the Hillary Clinton rendition with a cup of coffee in one of her hands, resembling the Statue of Happiness (a parody to the Statue of Liberty).

I think that the part that annoys players about GTA IV is, first of all, the fact that it is poorly optimized, and second, because of Rockstar's humor and the way the flaws of the American life are simply shoved in front of everyone who played the game. I'm not complaining about the story, it was a fantastic one, and both endings were heartbreaking.
Now, let's take a look at GTA III. It's more tame and cartoonish when it comes to the gameplay, pedestrians and/or graphics. I have to admit, it did a brilliant job by grounding the player for shooting in the public (also, the bullets and their traces were so funny and unrealistic). Also, some Easter Eggs were neat, actually.

Still, they both were awesome games and will bring nostalgia to a lot of players for years to come.

I know I'm bumping a topic, but I do have a question in terms of MTA SA

Although we have a really developed SAMP, what about MTA SA? It's a good client, even if it's not better than SAMP. What was the reason behind it's shutdown?

Although we have a really developed SAMP, what about MTA SA? It's a good client, even if it's not better than SAMP. What was the reason behind it's shutdown?

The people that were developing the MTA:SA were quite isolated from the community. They decided to have their own seperate forums, for example. This led to lack of a proper playerbase, which lead to its shut down. The primary reason is JayL abandoning it, I believe.

I played there for a few days. It was a very well developed script. Shame it had to meet it end. Seeing how SA:MP Argonath has problems keeping its own playerbase stable, opening another Argonath server would be insane. And SA:MP ha gotten pretty much to the same standart as MTA:SA with it's recent releases. When MTA:SA Argonath was open, though, MTA:SA was milestones better than it's SA:MP counterpart.
