I have always been told that there are "huge amounts of roleplay between criminals, it's just that you don't see it" whenever I'd touch the issue of roleplay. Yet, for the past few days what I've seen so many contradictions to this argument that I thought this topic simply needed to be opened.
Guess what? Cops want to roleplay too. Yet pretty much all the time our chances of roleplay are being reduced to criminals doing everything in their power so they have a chance to get wanted and have themselves chased, supporting it with an excuse of a roleplay to do so.
And even when we start roleplaying by our own, either one of these two scenarios happen:
1) Some REGURAL player approaches us, copy pastes our /me's for the entire main chat to see so whatever we're doing is blown as criminals start swarming and competing whoever gets there to ruin the roleplay first
2) We get /area'd by the criminals whenever we get online so they can follow us around and either piss us off to the point where we suspect them or find an excuse to shoot us.
By criminals being so busy copbaiting cops all the time, I find it hard to believe that they even have time to produce this secret "quality roleplay that they do between themselves". Which brings me again to this point - WE WANT TO ROLEPLAY TOO.
And no, it does not make it any easier that when we're done dealing with a huge ass situation, such as a smuggle for example, and finally go like "Finally, we can go back to roleplaying", the same guy or guys who were just present in that situation and died go ahead and end up wanted by killing some newb cop who does not comprehend the rules to know that that is a rulebreak, so we just find ourselves chasing the same person or persons over and over again until we get bored and /q. Hey, I know its all fun for you guys, but put yourselves in our shoes and see how "interesting" it is to us to be constantly reduced to this "roleplay" 24/7.
I'll just conclude it with this: do you guys want the police force to go inactive again like they were during Legend's command? Because that is precisely how you get us so bored that we simply no longer have the motivation to play. I, personally, worked hard to get the VCPD back active, yet it is only the matter of time when officers will either resign, leave, or go inactive because of this shit being pulled against them on daily basis.

I find plenty of chances to roleplay because not every criminal is worth pursuing, especially those who just nuked a newbie and claim self-defense in main chat.
Also I will not answer to any obvious copbait phone calls or advertisements, or just generally going to cops to talk smack in hopes of getting suspected. Some criminals are shit at roleplay but so are cops. This goes both ways. Some cops suspect people for respawning cars just because it pops up on the auto-suspection script even tho' it is literally just cleaning up the town.
Both sides need to learn the proper way to handle situations and topics like these isn't going to change that. Only ingame behavior will.

ban more people :gand: :gand:
-
then rip server :(
-
I will work on getting the VCPD to stop hitting that "Y" button whenever they see that pop up that someone shot. That's falling for copbaiting so hard I don't even.
Yet, it is sad to see such nonsense happenning. Why can't we just actually roleplay instead of ruining each others fun all the time.
-
change the server from light role play to hard core role play :gand: :gand:
-
Again Huntsman, you are overreacting. These topics are unnecessary.
-
Guys, we should respect Huntsman's opinion, even if these topics are a little drastic.
By "guys" I mean everyone, but most of all you Caster, quit the troll comments
then rip server :(
At times, we have to expect these things to happen. There is practically no way to stop this. I agree with Huntsman, however, it isn't all the time.
A lot of criminals produce quality roleplay, but a select few ruin it. NAR and EAF are two groups in which most members RP properly.
I have to say, @Huntsman this is just a bit drastic, but I agree.
Please, let's just say that this occurs sometimes, but not all the time.
Regards
Kowalski

You're not literally looking at VCMP - RolePLay topic. I sent a ton of RP pics there.

The criminals might RP with each other, yes. But the problem I rise here is that they deny the cops of any opportunity to roleplay, with the means discussed in the original post.
-
The problem is, most of the cops do not respond to 911, which is probably the best way for them to be involved in an RP.
Since you're ranting about being left out from RP's. Being an ex-cop and a criminal myself, I know how shit works.
We, the criminals do not want the cops to be involved with us for one simple reason, we do not want the police interrupting our drug deals, plans to kidnap someone, plans to assassinate someone, you know what I'm tryna say.
Who the fuck wants a cop to hover around a criminal when they're about to commit a crime?
No one. No criminal wants a cop poking his butt when we're doing something illegal.
Opportunity to RP? If you overhear us about doing illegal stuff, or if you were given a tipoff by someone, come to us, RP with us. Respond to 911.
To conclude, cops will get opportunities to RP with us, if and only if they don't always threaten us by shooting at the air like many of you do or threaten us about killing us. Instead, try to be a nice guy and not a badass every single time.

It's just plain stupid to be complaining about too much work. When you are police, you are there to serve and protect and not sit eating donuts together at a tea party.
Yeah ok, the police should avoid using /sus unless absolute necessary (Someone is trying to kill you for instance). Criminals should try to give a warning before shooting at a cop, such a simple /me describing your actions before you pull out your m4 and headshot them. Basically don't be a dickhead and start shootouts by shooting or suspecting. 9 times out of 10 roleplays are much longer when it doesn't involve wanted suspects and when both sides are not trigger happy.
However, cops should not be complaining about having too much to do. Your job is to chase down suspects, so deal with it. If you don't enjoy doing your job then quit and become a trucker or something. You shouldn't be trying to threaten everyone saying the entire VCPD is going to ragequit just because you didn't like how a certain scenario played out. That kind of shit doesn't happen anymore as VCPD is under the hands of the server administration.

Not much to say, other than that you're both missing the point.

No offense but they're actually dead on the point

This post pretty much sums it perfectly.
The fault is not on just either side even in scenario(s) given in the opening post. Criminals behave based on how cops do and cops behave based on how criminals do.
If some cops are shoot first RP later, then some criminals will be so as well. As I said earlier, this is only being done by selected few regulars and newbies, and even those regulars are rather new to the server.
Not nearly all roleplays, even between cops and criminals end up in a shootout. You'd be surprised to how many don't.
The problem is, most of the cops do not respond to 911, which is probably the best way for them to be involved in an RP.
Quite honestly, some of the /911 calls are pathetic as fuck of an attempt at copbaiting.
"HEY COPS I PLANTED 100 KG OF EXPLOSIVES IN NORTH POINT MALL UEHUEHUEHUHEUEHUEUHEHUE"
..This is the reason why some cops, including myself, do not respond to nearly all 911 calls, especially to such an obvious attempt of pure cop-baiting to become wanted.

Kessu summed it up well. I guess this topic could be locked.

Yes, Kessu stoled my words. :app:
