Title: Auctioning Impounded Cars
Post by: Nylez on January 22, 2018, 01:54:50 pm
With possible recent changes coming up regarding impounded vehicles (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=123196.msg1924719;topicseen#new), I thought it would be nice to add a few more things regarding it.

After a certain amount of time, for example 2 months, if the length of an impounded vehicle's existence is maximized to 3 months, the vehicles should be put up for sale for 40% of their market price to any interested buyer. This way the neglectance of one player can help out another player getting a vehicle they want without spending a lot of money!

From what I understood from the Division Leader himself, it's also impossible to directly transfer the ownership of a vehicle from 1 person to the other without the use of the /sellcar command by the first party. I think this should change as there could always be situations where a player forcefully has their properties (houses, cars etc.) removed from them.

Completely different subject, but also an another idea I've had for a while.
Smuggling cars ... we're all familiar with it. I was thinking of adding a certain bonus to players who deliver a specific car ID to the crane. For example a Greenwood is on the list of cars, there could be an additional message there like: "The Greenwood with license plate VC-C109 we're particularly interested in, we will give anyone who delivers it an additional bonus of 30% on top of the original price!" It should be randomized, but only possible on State cars so people won't have an advantage by locking their vehicles!

Just a few ideas I've had and thought I'd share.

EDIT:
It would also be nice if /sharekey worked with cars just like it does with properties! You should be able to share your car just as easily as you should be able to share your house.

To add to the car smuggling idea, why not make a consquence for owned cars that get smugged? Would make people lock their cars more often.

Car locks only work when you're ingame. You'd come back after a few days and find yourself in debt after your car was smuggled 200 times. Not a good move.

Ye, we should make it maybe when you're online that the penalty can happen, hell maybe we can add insurance aswell

This is my first post at Argonath Forumns and I wanted to address the problem of increasing Impounded or abandoned cars. As we all know(Do you?) that the area specified for the Impounded cars is flooded with them at the moment (can we use prologue too? :uhm:). Later this day Huntsman and Danigold were discussing this complication and suggestions were open, I also did add to the situation but my words went in vain. I needed a bigger platform so here i am.
This very step would not only benefit others but will be appreciated by all. if the phenomenon is adopted than we might expect the following dilemma
1) People will not park their cars at inaccurate places because they will all know that this might get them in trouble and even after that it  might prove as grief.
2) People will get a chance to buy cars at standardized rates and will increase the RP ratio.
3)  The maximum outcome from the auctioning could be used as a profit by the VCPD to pay cheques.
4) last but not least, Cars will not go decay :app: :app:.
Thanks you for reading all along upto this point, its upto you that whether you admire my idea or just shun it. i am completely neutral...
Reply your suggestions please.. :cowboy:

I'm not against auctioning these cars off as it is rather easy thing for us to do, but VCPD currently does have /scrapcar command with which they can delete the cars from existence at junkyard if they have been impounded for 3 months straight.

I support the auctioning of 3 month old cars left in the impound, but if they're not sold then /scrapcar should be used.

Why would people bid for a car in an auction that would begin at it's base price when they can simply go to the car dealership and buy a brand new one?

I think impounded cars that have been left unattended for a long time should just be scraped, and the cash given back to it's original owner if possible.

It's obvious that the impounded cars are used cars and therefore should be sold cheaper rather than a brand new one from Sunshine Autos ...

Just determine a certain percentage of the max price to be the starting bid.
For example 60%.

For example 60%.
That's still only 15% from a discounted price and literally everyone has discounts.

Which means the cars will either go with that 60% price or it'll not be worth it to buy it from the auction :(
