Title: Income Tax Returns
Post by: Edgplicit on January 23, 2018, 03:32:34 pm
I dunno if someone noticed it before or not. But, I did notice it.. Or if have been talked on previously.

Well, businesses have been paying tax on money that was already taxed after 5th of Jan, 2018.

Quote from: Fuzzie
/income is now subjected to the same tax rate that /deposit is.

Most of the transactions made are through bank accounts (or atleast some of them), which are already taxed while depositing.

For example :
If an item costs $3000 in a store and a player buys it through his bank account. Let's say the current tax rate is 20%. So the money used to buy the item was already taxed 20% (i.e $750), but when the income is collected, it is again taxed 20%. So, as a result, an extra tax worth $600 on it is paid, which isn't a small amount. Considering that everyday 2 items like that are bought of which one through bank account, resulting into enormous extra tax of $4200/week.

As to reduce this, half of this tax should automagically be refunded back to the owner while doing /income. It would make game feel more realistic.

No. The reason why /income is taxed the same amount is to prevent an abuse. Nothing more to say.

Abuse, I didn't understand how. Can you please elaborate a bit?

You assume that the money earned have been deposited manually that you buy stuff with. This is not always the case, legal jobs pay you directly to your bank account with no taxes.

Criminal jobs intentionally have a higher reward + tax + higher risk to make legal jobs more attractive to a user who does not want to deal with cops.

The tax on /income will stay as it is since the script does what we intended perfectly.

This is probably the dumbest change you've done because you took away the only purpose some of businesses had (money laundering through income). Now anything other than ammunations and maybe pay n sprays is pointless again. Well done. It should be like you can buy stuff with hand money but the income tax is gone, that way a gangster can buy a restaurant for himself and use it to launder money. Not like restaurants even turn any profit that'd make them be worth investing into.

You forget that businesses are still self-sustaining because of trucking.

And businesses just needs to increase prices to get to the same income as they had before in those self-sustaining businesses  :balance:

Only business type to actually suffer from this are ammunations since they actually require restocking the business and maybe tool shops, however unlikely that they were affected that much.

Not to mention that we are constantly looking for ways to improve such scripts to make them have multiple ways to (ab)use in somewhat controlled scenarios.

Some businesses even today are purposefully selling shit way below even discounted stock prices because why not? It's not like they ever need to invest to the business  :dead:

You both make valid points and honestly the business script needs a lot of work. The whole stock thing, minus ammunations, is bugged beyond repair right now with the way trucking works so that needs fixing, as well as stock prices. About money laundering, I am open to allowing this and removing the income tax ONCE we have included a way for Law enforcement to properly battle it. Until then, it'll remain as it is because it's too much of an advantage without any risk at all. Hope that explains.
