Title: Battery Life - help me improve it
Post by: Huntsman on March 18, 2018, 04:22:25 pm
Hi,

I have a HP Probook 4530s laptop. It's a decent, work orientated laptop, but has one flaw - the battery life is terrible. I take my laptop to lectures for notetaking. I have like two, three 45 minute lectures a day, and yet the battery is almos completely dry by the end of the second lecture, yet all I do on it is nothing but basic word processing and some PDF reading, that's it.

Any suggestions how to improve this? I do set my computer on power saving and shut down all irrelevant software. I run Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, but from what I remember the battery life on Win 10 was even worse. I was wondering perhaps there was a Linux solution for better battery?

I am really out of ideas. Thanks.

Well the only solution to fix this is to buy a new battery, it is obvious that your battery is dying.
You must not use it if there's a leak of battery, all you have to do is to remove the battery and use it only with charger, check the place that you're notetaking and see if there's a plug, if there then you can alway charge your laptop without wasting your money(sorry for my bad english)

Here's what you need, an extended battery, bigger in capacity than the stock one!
You should check your Windows Power Plan settings, make sure you use low brightness and low CPU-GPU power modes to ensure more time on your wasted battery!
Next thing to do is try to revive your battery by correct charging it! In case you just charge it all day battery then is guaranteed to fail at sometime. If you are stationary over your lecture it's better to find another source of power instead, or upgrade your battery for maximum endurance.
