Title: Randomize mission timers
Post by: Huntsman on April 07, 2018, 06:52:44 pm
Hi there,

My idea is simple - randomize mission timers and make them scarcer over all. Perhaps even add that during a random day of the week, smuggle doesn't take place at all.

Why? It has become rather sad to watch. A good portion of the player-base have forgotten the concept of roleplay and only logging once in two hours to part-take in a smuggle, only to disappear again until five minutes till the smuggle takes place. It has gotten to a ridiculous point where certain players, who are an absolute majority, even set timer countdowns until the smuggle so they can log in once it takes place.

How would this help? For one, it would filter out people who are in the server only for the TDM/Mini-mission aspect for it. Two, it would make people to be more active so they do not miss a smuggle or mini-mission, seeing how nobody could predict when would it take place.

Wrong.

Generic VC:MP playerbase are not hardcore roleplayers. This is a fact we have accepted long ago and we cater server to those who are atleast willing to try. Hence why scripts such as smuggle and minimissions exist in the first place.

We don't want to throw away majority of the playerbase just because they join to smuggle and then leave. So what if they do that? It's only every 3 hours at best.

How about adding one or more extra elements for the criminals during a smuggle?
Right now, literally all that is needed is for 3/4 (dont remember the min required) dudes to team up, start the smuggle with a simple command and its a go, all thats left is to survive and run with the spoils.

What if they would be required to prepare another thing? like fuel for the yacht, much like how to blow up the safe in a bank heist you would need 5 explosives. Maybe making contact with the pirates and have them actually stop in the middle of the route to exchange the rewards?

I talked to Fuzzie about something much similar earlier. I support this idea.

What if they would be required to prepare another thing? like fuel for the yacht, much like how to blow up the safe in a bank heist you would need 5 explosives.

And lifting and dropping anchors, which would be available at the tools shop.

Maybe making contact with the pirates and have them actually stop in the middle of the route to exchange the rewards?

And even swapping routes so cops can't camp at end always.

Well Huntsman, it's already a pain in the ass to predict smuggles and minimissions. What we need to do is minimize shootout/pursuit somehow to encourage more roleplay.

For a good part of the day I see a healthy activity in the server. If not with others, the gang members interact with themselves. I've seen them doing so on many occasions. And mind you, these occasions have occurred during smuggle/mm cool down hours. Secondly, Activity around the April-May period is comparatively lower than other months as many players have their exams and so what if they only pop up during smuggle/mm hours. Atleast they're taking out time to play. If they want to enjoy this way so let them. At least they're being active.
Sorry buddy but its a no from me
