Title: Role-playing: Legal vs Illegal?
Post by: albertlau128 on April 14, 2018, 09:15:29 am
As I've vented my "rage" in recent events over Discord, I'd like to also  address the problem here.

I've been playing in Argo SA:MP for quite a while, by then I've been playing as law-abiding roles like SAFD, ADF, EMS, Trucking etc. This is my choice and preferred way of role-playing. The "problem" that I want to address was alright when it was in the RS4 era, where Lucianos and Gvardia were always in gunfights with PD and FBI. We lived peacefully as civs, doing our jobs, enjoying our RP callouts and such.

Take a moment to appreciate the legal side of RP as we all are well aware of the fact that many players are just afk in game, or doing whatever scripted illegal stuff (I don't know the dark side of the story so I'd just assume they are). The community should not be so imbalanced to an extent that the player board are all whites, hanging at their own corners and cook meth or whatever scripted jobs. FD/EMS died down totally, which is disappointing. Thin blues almost never exists, dark blues have organized activities but is so limited in manpower. Do these all symptoms affect the roleplaying experience in Argonath? Yes, negatively, in the fact that illegal RP is so frequent that makes legal/civ RP even more difficult. Is it the time to re-evaluate the situation in Argo?

It's planned to give more script functionality for legal businesses/corporations, and also give incentives for people to actively join FD/EMS and SAPD. Though as I said before, scripts can only do so much. Scripts can deter people from engaging in big shootouts, while encouraging more less violent roleplay. However, scripts can't force people to do so. It's a mindset that can only be mitigated. For the past several years, many people have had the cops vs criminal mindset and complain when one side may have an "unfair" advantage to the other, but totally disregard the fact that this is a roleplay server, and not all activities have to be cop or criminal.

We will continue to make scripts that encourage a more "civil" type of roleplay in the future. While we won't ignore problems within both police and criminal features, we're not going to focus our attention to balancing it or making it seem "fair", because it's not about winning or losing, or arresting/killing all criminals, or killing all cops, it's about having true roleplay interaction and having fun with the many features you will be given.

The server is going towards a CnR server day by day, but civilian RP lacks participants, not the scripts, in my opinion. You can RP a real estate agent, work with a company, work in a bar, restaurant, pizza delivery, marketing agency, and a lot more things, without the need for scripts. (obviously excluding scripted jobs)

I might going off from the topic but my idea is HQ should make Los Santos as a main place of RP. The city is too big and with only 30-40 players online usually.
NOTE: I think HQ should meth and weed system accessable only for official/recognized faction.

And how would the HQ do that? I think it is unfair to restrict players to a certain area. If I want to be a cop ”harassing” Gvardia (just an example) in San fierro, should I not be able to?

What you just said makes no sense. That's probably one of the worst ideas ever. Restricting players to one city, will just make things worse. NO.

With that players won't interact with eachoter and with their own group to get recognized or oficial, there is a way of geting argonath 0/200
