Hello there fellas,
I've got some questions regarding something that had always been an issue in IV:MP, where players do roleplay by their mood and refuse to roleplay by their mood.. This had been an issue since I joined the server, and some administrators have always been protecting this even though it was never a written rule or clarified..
I'm quite sure recently server HQ has declared and clarified that forcing roleplay has nothing to do with forcing someone to roleplay. Simply because:
- Forcing roleplay: Means forcing someone to roleplay something without giving him chances of response. Such as "/me shoots the guy to his head." - "/em You must die now, I shot you to your head".
- Forcing someone to roleplay: If you approach someone and interact with him, he does not have the right to reject your roleplay and claim he is busy.. simply because it's a roleplay server and everyone is supposed to roleplay.
I do not seem to be able to find the topic where server HQ clarified this matter, even though I'm quite sure it had been spoken about recently and players were told that from that moment on, everyone is supposed to roleplay and not reject it.. hence why I'd like a clarification from the IV staff about this matter as I seem to be quite lost at the moment..

i try to roleplay, the genevoses and some random players says "/em i dont care" "/em fuck off" just coz they at the submissive end of a roleplay. and then they had to be executed in cold blood thanks to armelin for the awesome weapons sync, hence no problem :war:

Well one of the reasons could be that the lovely active COL hasn't updated the roleplay guide and kept an outdated one that should've never been put there in the first place
COL Topic, check roleplay section
http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=103335.0
the guide is this
http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=111922.0
I do not want to pronounce myself any more as i've been clear in past topics on how roleplay shouldn't be avoided but encouraged.

Both situations are bad in my opinion, you should lead them by example and not require of them to do something they do not want to [if that is the case]
Quite a few times have I accepted roleplay scene in which I was passively/actively asked to be on the receiving end without a chance to alter. After that happens I just deny the roleplay from the specific player for a certain amount of time.
Anyways, lead by an example not by force. Find players who would like to roleplay and just start doing roleplays all over the place... whatever comes to your mind. No need for everything to end up as cops/criminal interactions or a conversation ending with a fight or whatever. Why can't anyone do a roleplay of a flat tyre on a side of a street or a mechanic repair shop? Maybe a sanitary inspection? Repairing a flooded apartment? Waiting for the washing machine to finish at Laundromat? xd
Think of it haha

I understand your point, had always been in mind of players before but sadly only few managed to implement it as rest were just not interested in :P
Though what I'm seeking to know whether players still are allowed to deny roleplaying with you (i.e: "/em I'm sorry but I'm busy to roleplay"), or this infact has changed (which I believe happened.. but can't find the source to confirm)..
If we look at it, this is a roleplay server and if someone takes the initiative with another player and tries to interact and he just responds with "/em I'm busy", then it's quite frustrating and would just make the one who initiated the roleplay either quit roleplaying or quit the server as a whole..

When a roleplay turns into bullying they can absolutely refuse, which is exactly how I see yours and Mark's actions at the event which has lead to the formation of this topic.
A player was hosting an event intended to promote fun and interaction with all, and in my eyes you wanted to cause grief and hostility for reasons I cannot understand.
I only know of this because of the 3 page long complaint I received. I would not expect this kind of thing from someone who has had so much success and has become so well respected. If I have misinterpreted please explain...

If a player says i don't wanna rp, just walk away.
If he dose some rp actions means he is ok with rp and you can keep going in some normal direction.
We had a situation where a gang leader was talking smack in /p so 4 masked people came to take him for a drive, he did /me shows his weapon without fear, then the 4 players aimed at him, while he reported for forcing rp just cuz he was about to be put down cuz his actions, later 4 ppl walked away when he said i don't wanna rp, but still the magical i don't wanna rp when im losing word sucks, but that's how it is, you just ignore ppl like that later.

That's a one minute roleplay. Forcing roleplay is: citizens comes towards us and quickly do "/me steps out and walks to the trunk" and "/em Trunk is open" "/me takes out an M4 from it" Then the player will ask "Windows open or closed?", you didn't replied and the player will approach you and do "/me tries to break the windows' glass with the M4". He will do /dice, If you are not willing to participate in that roleplay, you don't have to dice and you have full rights to say it in local chat.

Does this include two certain people (I won't name them this time) stealing your car which you forgot to lock, and forcing you to suspect them and make you chase them everywhere until they escape?
I'm never interacting or even speaking to them again, but I would like a clarification to this.
Thank you.

No.. this topic I made was just to understand whether that rule (that players can simply refuse interaction if they w ish to) still exists or not.. because I don't find any source that confirms or denies it, and I believe Senate above had already explained and clarified it.
The scenario you've showed is more like a one-side interaction and could be enlisted under forcing roleplay, true that roleplay shouldn't be done :P
You have a point, thank you very much for your input Mane, will surely keep that in mind from now on, regarding how things work in IV :P
You're quite right, a roleplay shouldn't be resumed if it's only bullying.. though my yesterday's intentions were nothing but to roleplay. I don't even know the players that were present, I only knew Mark who is a friend of mine and had nothing to do with the situation, and Dway which showed up later on; The rest I didn't really know any of them so I had no intentions to bully them or cause any troubles to them.
I'm sure my approach to the situation afterall was quite frustrating to the other party, however I've only done as a cop is expected to.. and did not intend to ruin no event. The event was supposed to be roleplay event, and we approached only with roleplay, and did in no way want to ruin it.
I'll myself have a talk with the player who's felt quite bullied about my actions even though I hadn't meant to, and will find out a solution to correct anything I've done wrong yesterday.
As for the topic's purpose, I believe Senate, Mane, and Mihail have answered the question. Thank you for your response, it's been really helpful for me personally to know how things do roll in IV:MP after my leave.

everyone is supposed to roleplay and not reject it..
Wasnt this a lite rp server?

Wasnt this a lite rp server?
It is, however this matter had always been put into discussion and a subject to confusion :p

I won't pronounce much about this discussion, but playing in a roleplay server to refuse/avoid RP makes no sense. Alright, everyone is free to do whatever they want, have fun and etc BUT I need waste my precious time looking for someone who wants to RP and I almost need to ask OOCly if he wants to roleplay before it starts. If people want to have fun, you guys should create a freeroam/rp server, giving money to buy cars and have fun just driving around the city.
Let people refusing RP is like they're just playing for players count because we can drive around the city in SinglePlayer.
Just answer me, why you guys created a RP server if people can't be forced to RP?

I wanted to join the event. I was told not to do it on duty so i simply tried to get around it without bullying anyone. When Younes roleplayed with them they started refusing the roleplay like if we were there just to ruin it which wasn't our idea at all, then they decided to report him because he kept interacting while they were making up excuses over and over for something that was approved by the court. At some point i even PMed younes to give up on the roleplay because they were authorized to do the event and they weren't willing to showing it to us in roleplay. It could've ended in a minute if they had not started to moan at him for asking a document.
Then at the end when Dway came and said they're allowed to do that i made a joke on the forcing roleplay which i admit, i guess that was the whole "bullying" thing. You know back in 2014 i got warned for refusing to roleplay so i find it funny that nowdays you can get away with it and everyone stays cool with it but then they moan there is no roleplay or people don't roleplay well enough. Of course they don't...they never accept one unless it pleases them.

Exactly , if u want to see RP in the server (which supposed to happen ) no one should have the right to reject interactions by people willing to rp oocly . If u log in the server you have to roleplay , at least when you are asked to . You are just useless on the server if u log in just to farm and grind (i dont want to go back to the farming simulator thing).
Its not about being a light rp server or heavy rp server . RP 'quality' aint improving in the server if everyone just refuses to rp . There should be no excuse to refuse an interaction with a player . Rarely do i see people rp in the server , at least when im online. People just gather in mgs talking oocly about their cars and customizations , or talking about their IRL , or sometimes arguing about their IRL problems . This community is already dying slowly , becuz people just dont care anymore about rp .(im talking about IVMP, i have no idea about the other servers) , Rarely do new people join and they are fed up after a short amount of time ,either becuz they have no interaction with the old players who are supposed to guide them , or either becuz they just havent played on an rp server. So its always the same faces , same thing . Talking from my experience at least , i just login , looking for an opportunity to rp ; but its either people evading traffic stops so all the cops on the server start to chase them an it ends by them running out of fuel and refusing to surrender , or its the old showing guns in public/copbaiting sometimes and then saying it was a bug . I think the structure of the server should be totally revised from scripts to rules to everything.. becuz people are just getting bored and im one of them.....

The clarification has been made for the OP so I am going to lock this as it is quickly turning into a "hardcore RP" vs "lite RP" debate which has been had before.
Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages as pointed out by both sides in this topic. I think Mihial gave the best example of how to find interaction and roleplay within the server.
Players are turned off by both methods and it is simply impossible to please both crowds. If we re-work the entire server/script as zedo suggested then that leaves a large group who are already satisfied unsatisfied.
We will always encourage RP but we prefer an environment where players have some freedom when it comes to what they want to do while in the server, this does NOT mean that we encourage disengagement from RP as some have eluded to. We also believe in common sense, for example if you leave your car unlocked and someone steals it then you have volunteered yourself to this interaction by failing to lock your car (talking to you Meeses).
Happy gaming.

This where are you wrong xd
The lack of newcomers is only temporary as its cause is the switch to EFLC/T4 from the usual and wide-spread, well-known GTA4/T3. The moment the word starts spreading out of the new gta4 client and people start reaching out to EFLC/T4, the population will increase. Even as we speak now, I saw some people asking for server scripts so that they can start their own servers.
Not to mention that IV:MP T4 did make some older players to return and check it out. Some of them did check and left, but some of them stayed.. as few players from this very topic
To cap it over again - I am pretty sure all of you know who is willing to RP and who ain't the best choice to poke..
Just start organizing roleplay events and let the current player base get used to it or the denying individuals fade away into oblivion as it usually happens with such after the mindless grinding to get it all
No need to force anyone to anything lel
