hi guys
i have a suggestion
what about making a test for people who wanted to become an moderator by making several moderator situations watched by admin or moderator and see if the player deserve to be an moderator or not by that player actions in these situations and the have only 2 wrong decitions and the third one means failed in that test
and the moderator tells the player about his mistake and gives him the correct awnser
-
IV Leadership decides this, plus neither you or I know how they recruit admins.
A test is a good idea, as it helps expand knowledge but I'm not sure.
No support or unsupported verdict, just yet.
-
Worst idea i ever heard. Players that ask for moderator, never should receive it. There is several reasons that i am against this idea.
-
What
the fuck do you think becoming a moderator is?
-
if the player deserve to be an moderator or not by that player actions in these situations and the have only 2 wrong decitions and the third one means failed in that test
Its about patience mate ,not only about knowledge of rules.
-
You know that sometimes the best results are achieved when individuals participating actually do not know they are in an experiment?
You are being tested daily haha
-
The leadership does not need new moderators everyday, it's rather random and happens usually when it's running out of staff or each 6 months..etc. Making a test to see how people do and give them chances is not really what they look for.
As Mihail said, you're being tested daily and observed by current administrators, and your applications are always being discussed and anything wrong you do or good during your application period will be noted in your profile.
Just make sure you do the correct thing, and make sure you do it your own way. Being a moderator isn't for pleasing the leadership nor for showing off, it's only for helping the players and by helping them you must do it your own way, not the way people see nice so you make yourself look good.. And your way of course has to be correct.. there are plenty of guides provided when you become a moderator and can read them which will definitely help you if accepted ;)

it only became on my though becuase i saw some moderator have some proplems in self-control (or maybe someone else was using that moderator account)

let me ask this question
if u was an new moderator and u decided to ban someone who is rulebreaking for the first time with no other admin guidance to help you take the right decition except banning then who will guide you?
or ask yourself
what will happen if they gave a huge responsibilty like (moderator) to someone who even isnt responsible about his own actions or even didnt know right thing to do as an moderator and even how to solve an roleplay proplem with 2 or more players without guidance from an former or old admin to help him out?

If you have a complaint against a moderator, send it via email or PM a Manager/ Division Leader+
EDIT:

i wasnt meaning by asking the same admin to give him permission
i mean by applying in the fourm and be good in the server and if he got accepted he will get tested

*slaps his face*
I am done with you seriously. Bye.
-
Is this a way to know how to become a moderator or what do and don't moderators do? :P

In this case you are not ready to become moderator, you don't need any guidance to take a common sense decision. also player behavior plays a big role about the punishment, as sometimes warning works better than banning and avoids future rule breaking.

Who said moderators do not get help? Just because you're not being told about it.. does not mean it doesn't happen...

I dont think tests to become a moderator should be standardized. I mean someone may just be lucky or just be good at solving tests, but in general would be a lame staff member. In general, to become a member of the staff, there's a long way , they're keeping an eye on you , how you behave , how you help people, do you get frustrated , are you polite etc, even without yourself knowing, they may be watching you.
Obviously myself never being a staff member, and obviously not one who's recruiting,i dont know their shady secrets of recruiting, I guess they have their time tested methods that are pretty good.
Im against making it simpler to become a staff member. Who's dedicated will stay dedicated.

Moved to general since it is management related and not scripts related suggestion

Even if you be one, i think cuz I am not, you keep being tested. The test that you mean, is already on and never ends.

Back in my day only people worth it would get invited or if apps would open for moderator applications. You had to be a role model, a solid player who knew his way around. Polite and friendly with patience. If you are nice to people and tend to help you might get picked up someday. Plus age is just a number, we had the youngest a-team members like Polopolo who was just 12(?), same for Salmonella and even I did it by the age of 15. Years later now, I still play and I enjoy helping people whether I hold a title like that or not. Sharing is caring, helping too. So don't loose your hopes :)
