What do you want to know about the upcoming V:MP server running on FiveM? Please note: we cannot give timeframes as we are still in a fairly pre-alpha state.
If you have suggestions, please let us know. This project is being developed with a player-first mindset, we want your input to be heavily inclusive in this very early infancy stage.
A few questions I have received already:
Q: FiveM has a large development community, like SA-MP, and with that a large amount of community resources. Are you keeping to the same policy of SA-MP and not utilizing any community resources?
A: (this is a long one) For one, SA-MP utilizes multiple projects from the SA-MP forums. However, most of these are behind the scenes resources and libraries for building the experience on and are rarely ever seen in use by the players directly. In the case of V:MP we've gone with the modern solution of not reinventing the wheel.
Our server is built on top of something called Essential Mode and Essential Mode Extended. This provides an incredible framework for us to build on top of and a vast arsenal of community projects built on top of them already. With that said, those are often built to be targeted for general purpose and not for Argonath's purpose. For the projects and resources we use, we're ensuring we have a license and permission to modify and adjust, and we are working to heavily adapt those to fit the experience we want to build. So while we aren't reinventing the wheel, we're certainly changing the wheel we're given. In addition, we are also developing a handful of our own resources, and likely to give back to the greater FiveM development community a way of playing our part in a community that has given us something incredible to work with.
We are certainly aiming to ensure the experience you gain on Argonath's V:MP is a unique one, yet a similar experience you've enjoyed for years, just on a modern platform.
Q: Will V:MP have NPC peds?
A: The simple answer is yes, there will be a light amount of NPC pedestrians walking around and driving vehicles. In addition, you'll find randomly placed vehicles around the map. Keep in mind, unlike GTA:O you will NOT be able to simply save these vehicles in a garage. The garage system requires you OWN the vehicle. There is no drops from peds, and no police dispatch when you find yourself wanted by the police. There is consideration for a way to turn an illegally obtained vehicle into an owned, but this not yet confirmed or designed.
Q: Will there be properties?
A: Again, here the simple answer is yes BUT.. there's limitations. The GTA:V was created with properties that exist in the world. Unlike SA-MP where you are teleported to a designed interior world. However, thanks to aforementioned community resources, we have a handful set and plan to add more where we can. However, there will not be hundreds of properties available like in SA-MP.
Q: What are you programming in?
A: LUA and JavaScript, we are able to develop in both due to the modular design of FiveM. Additionally, user interfaces are built in HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
Q: Are you looking for assistance?
A: We are in pre-alpha stage right now and trying to get a solid foundation to work with before we start tinkering and working to the experience we want to create. We aim to be there in a few days to a week. Once we're there we will start accepting assistance, at least development wise. Moderation staff is to be taken under consideration for the V:MP HQ team at a later date. Contact Teddy/Chase if you are interested in contributing, right now we could use some gfx artists and web designers.
Q: How is release going to look?
A: We don't know yet, right now our focus is on getting to a stage where we're comfortable with a closed alpha test. There is a lot of immediate attention stuff that trying to focus on what comes next is only a distraction that'll slow down the current efforts.

Cool
i like the NPCs walking around, it gives life to the server when you are alone
suggestion: adding a way to unlock locked cars/alarms for cars

Thank you for the suggestion. We do have a system in place where you can lock your owned vehicles; and by default system mechanics when you approach a locked vehicle, your player smashes the window and unlocks the door. I will see about implementing an alarm system to notify police/player of a vehicle theft attempt.

A few more questions / comments from Discord/DMs
Q: Are the commands similar to RageMP's version of V:MP?
A: In some instances, however, thanks to the power behind FiveM, we're able to achieve a lot of command-less based implementation of features with relative ease. Most things that would require a command in other Argonath servers or modifications of GTA V, are done using a similar style seen in the GTA V game and GTA:O. (mostly walking to things and pressing E). Your standard array of /l /me /do and such still exist as you'd expect.
Q: Is there a character creator for custom characters?
A: Yes, upon joining you will have the ability to design your character including outfit, skins, and more. Additionally, clothing can later be purchased for a flat fee.
Q: Can vehicles be customized?
A: Yes, LS Customs and Benny's mods are both implemented.
Q: What about weapons?
A: Yes, the weapon shops do support weapon attachments.
Q: Is there a garage system?
A: Yes, however, it is menu based and does not currently support the interior used in GTA:O. We may implement this in the future. Additionally, there is an impound. There are public garages if you do not own your own property with a garage, and all vehicles left out of a garage when you logout are returned to the impound lot.
Q: What vehicles can I purchase?
A: Most, including the GTA:O DLC vehicles. Please note, at launch boats and aircrafts are not available for purchase (or storage).
Q: Will voice be implemented?
A: We're looking into it.
Q: How does dying work? (referencing the screenshot in leaks (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=126347.0))
A: When your health reaches 0 you aren't quite dead, but rather a dying state. You are unconscious and unable to act/move, and have the greyscale screen seen in the leak. You do not instantly respawn. There is a currently 2 minute wait before you can select "RP Death" option. During this period a medic can be dispatched to revive you. After the 2 minute cool down (we will probably lower this), you are placed into a "bleed out" state where after 10 minutes you will bleed out and die from your wounds. You can still be revived by a paramedic in your bleed out state or you can simply select to die and respawn.
There is a cost to "RP Death", you will lose all weapons (including their modifications). In addition, all dirty money and cash you were carrying on hand is lost. However, money stored in the bank and weapons stored in properties or other storage means are not lost (unless they were stored in a vehicle that was destroyed in the unfolding of your death).

What about to cover behind cars/walls, is it synced?

What about to cover behind cars/walls, is it synced?
Yes, cover in FiveM has arguably the best sync of the MP mods.

Can we buy apartments like in GTA:O?

Can we buy apartments like in GTA:O?
Yes, you are able to store weapons and skins in the property as well. However, there is limitations as there is a limited number of the apartments available. We are working to see what we can do about this.

freecops or whitelisted cops only?

freecops or whitelisted cops only?
To be determined, we're looking for community feedback on this.

I would support the existence for freecops

Will it be a group system like we have in SA:MP? there official groups/clan directly getting added and official groups/clan gets group vehicles and HQ
also /gm text thing for group?

Not exactly, there will be a faction system but it will not provide the same level of depth as SA-MP's group system. The faction system will primarily be used to keep ranks managed for groups like the LSPD. Additionally, we're considering player-ran core jobs (e.g dealership system is player managed and can hire employees/payroll, etc as well as the mechanic system as a whole being player owned and managed).

Cars can have tinted windows?

Cars can have tinted windows?
I'm pretty certain you can tint your windows at LS customs.
-
Cars can have tinted windows?
Yes, LS Customs has all available tint as you can normally obtain in SP/GTA:O.

Are there any plans to have multiple characters under the same account?

At the present we do not have these plans.

How are the NPC scripts gonna work? Is there auto-suspect on kill? Will metagaming be prevented? If yes, how?

How are the NPC scripts gonna work? Is there auto-suspect on kill? Will metagaming be prevented? If yes, how?
I'd imagine NPC is just 100% for immersion if not that should be the way it's handled.

There is no auto-suspect system, however, cops killing any NPC is fined. We are looking at ways to integrate NPCs into the world and gameplay experience but do not yet have any solid plans.

Yes, everything that is synced in GTA:O is synced in Five:M as it is built on top of GTA:O's networking code.

I actually didn't mind the fact that we paid a little more for weps that we keep after dying, as believe it or not, we were not constantly killing each other before, i think the only time i died was when i got DM'ed by a new player.
we pretty much role played everything. and most of the time it ended in us walking away without shooting anything, so i hope it stays this way and we are a civil community

Will it be any aircraft job? like plane cargo job?

There is no aircraft job currently, we will consider this post-release.

I may actually consider allowing players to keep legal weapons, as realistically when you are released from the hospital anything illegal would be confiscated but anything legal would be returned to you.

What are the 2 bars above the radar for? Hunger and thirst? Just noticed them in the screenshots

I am surprised it took this long for someone to point them out and ask lol. Yes, they are hunger and thirst bars but they will be moved eventually to fit with a new UI we're working on.
Overtime your hunger and thirst bars will decay and you'll need to eat and drink. The decay is slow, not like you'll be needing to eat and drink a few times per hour or anything. It is there just enough to matter but not enough to interfere with the gameplay.

What if I left myself without eating /drinking
I would suggest getting freezed until medics come. Instead of dying

You would die as if you were killed or died in any other way. As detailed already, you enter a death state and await medical treatment for up to 12 minutes before "bleeding out". In all instances of death, you have the option to be revived by a paramedic.

What if there are no paramedics online? just accept our fate? LOL.
im happy to see that paramedics will be pushed active. give them something to do constantly
