Title: IV:MP mapping ideas: requesting input
Post by: Norrage on August 19, 2019, 08:00:50 pm
We are currently investigating if we can add custom mapping to the server for some extra roleplay engagement and fresh looks of the city. Let us know what kind of mappings you would like to see, where and with what style. For example; roleplay jail next to DPD or couches near the MGS idle area.

Note that the idea of mapping is that we encourage roleplay, so please do not come with the idea of a racing track on the beach.

That's great!

I would like to suggest mapping something for Stadium that is at Meadows Park. (And removing that Demolition derby mission (fireman/medics) from there) where we can have some roleplay events ranging from booking a ticket, organizing shows, recruiting people for the shows to Managing the stadium!

Also, as we have talked if it worked well, I wish to see the Mappers job in IVMP! For both inexperienced and experienced people to give opportunity for everyone to help the HQ in making the server a better place!

i'd say map new bar/cafe near MGS and such popular spots, make an interior for the Fire Department because it doesn't have one

Industrial park and the factories at Alderney are places can be used for roleplay purposes, same with hatton garden.

In the MGS Hangout area, add bar/cafe like what Tony said and add couches, some nice lights, some tables, and make use of that empty roof just beside the highway.

On the highway connected between DPD and Bohan, fortify the roads and add some glowing speed signs if possible, and at the toll booth area try to make it more, "policed", by that I mean add some of these cement barriers to the sides, and just make it better so police officers don't need someone to spawn barriers anytime they want to organize a traffic checkpoint.

Make use of the scrap yard just near the Lucchese HQ.

Remove the weedspot from the outlook park, it is very unrealistic for a criminal to plant weed in public park.. And add more weedspots in more common places that a criminal is going to plant at.

And literally change alderney, it is utterly useless. In the game story it was meant as an industrial area, and since most warehouses/oil factories/gun store already exist in Boabo or near the FIA. There is no use for such a mess in the map, except for the prison which is one of the places I like the most.

And please test if objects/entities cause lag/stutter/loss of FPS first  :(

How about bringing activity in 2nd and 3rd Islands? Try creating festive lighting which will attract the players, and maybe they can stay there.

The main focus is on the first island / hot spots around the map (say for example a group HQ or something).

Please be reminded; if you have suggestions, let me know!

First of all it's nice to see such a new thing landing to IV:MP. Just a question/doubt; does the client possess an actual map editor which helps you to edit maps easily?

Me and Carlos are currently using the simple native trainer (OMG HAX) to find and place objects. I will write a tutorial this weekend (I hope) to show everyone how it works and to submit maps.

That's good to hear, maybe in the future client dev could think of a proper map editor.
