Title: Problem connecting to servers
Post by: Kitsune on February 17, 2008, 12:28:53 pm
I cannot connect to or see on the server list, any of the servers under the IP 89.149.196.238 however I have no problem with servers under the IP 80.237.173.91 (89.149.196.238 is for SAMP and MTAVCRPG servers, 80.237.173.91 is for VCMP and MTAVCSTUNT servers). My internet speed is shaped so I don't know if this has any affect but I have been shaped for over a week and only now this problem started. However, I used to sometimes have this problem a while back whether I was shaped or not. When I try to send 1 byte of data (cmd ping) to the IP's I get an average of 405ms response for 80.237.173.91 but non-responsive to 89.149.196.238 (constant "Request timed out.")

Any ideas on what is the problem?

Haven't a clue, is your ping high because you are on the other side of the planet?

Yeah, I live in Australia so this kind of ping is normal for me.

In the case of Ghost is was a routeblock. According to Sauron there were som strange packets moving from and to your IP. To stop this, he blocked the route.
Check out yor PC for spyware/malware.

As for Vu4eCa, if this is a problem of all MTA servers and you can connect to ours by quick connection it can be a problem of the current MTA version (should solve on next one) or because your serial number got a ban somewhere.

Well I have a batch file which I nearly always run to see how my internet is performing with the IP from the SAMP server, heres the lines in the batch file:

Code: [Select]
@echo off
:1
title ping ArgonathRPG
ping 89.149.196.238 -t -l 1000
goto 1

So could this be the cause of these "strange packets"?

Probably yes.

Well now that you know the packets aren't spyware/malware, can I ping the server IP or will I get routed by Sauron again and if this is the case can you just tell him they are safe or am I not allowed to ping the server?

I will inform Sauron. The reason they got intercepted were:
1. They are not directed to one of the game ports
2. In order for you to check the server replied on the ping, this meant cross-traffic

If used within limits, it will not cause another block.
