What is 9 ball pool?
9 ball pool as any other pool game is played on the billiards table. It is played between two players or a two versus two format in which one team has two players. For now we'll be focusing on 1v1 format. There are 9 balls. One of the player gets to break, that is, the first shot after all the balls have been placed on the table. To take a shot we make a bridge with our hand and use a cue stick to hit the cue ball, guiding by the bridge to hit one of the scorable balls. If a person pots a ball when breaking (first shot), he gets another shot, and if he pots another ball, he again gets another shot and so on. In 9 ball pool the first person to pot the last remaining ball wins the game. Both the players have to pot the balls in numerical order, and following this order they have to pot the last ball, i.e the 9 ball in order to win the game. If no balls are potted in a chance, it's the end of that player's turn and the other player will get his go. Say no balls are potted in the break, the first ball that must be potted is the 1 ball, after that 2 ball, then 3 and so on till all the balls are done. If the 9 ball get potted in the break, the game is won there and then.
The rules are fairly simple. You aim to pot the balls in order until the 9 ball drops. Whoever pots it has won, regardless of how many of the previous balls the player was responsible for holing.
Miss a shot and no balls go down, your turn is over and your opponent comes to the table.
You can pot any ball you like during your turn (aside from the cue ball). You must aim for the lowest numbered ball, but if you can send the object ball into another and pot that, it’s a fair shot and you continue your break. Do that to the 9 ball and, again, it’s a frame-winning shot.
How to play 9 Ball Pool? (In ArgoRPG terms)
According to the traditional method stated here (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/index.php?topic=124198.0),
Both players will roleplay a full game of 9 ball. It's recommended the player has an understanding of the game before participating.
The player will need to legally pocket the 9 ball before the other to win the game.
All actions will be roleplayed, minus the result of each shot which will be determined using /rolldice.
For the first 8 balls,
Rolldice 1 - foul shot
Rolldice 2 - miss
Rolldice 3 - miss
rolldice 4 - pot
Rolldice 5 - pot
Rolldice 6 - pot
For the final 9 ball, the player taking the shot will have to choose a number from 1-6 and then he'll have to do /rolldice. If he gets the number he had chosen, the ball will be potted, or else it'll be considered a miss.
Note:A foul shot by player1 will give player2 two chances to /rolldice for the next shot, and vice versa.
Following this, the players will go on with the match where everything will be roleplayed, except the result of the shot will be decided by /rolldice as given above.
