Work, work, more work, and distracted by other games.

Get up and get cleaned up. Drive an hour to work, work 12 hours,  drive an hour home. Play a bit, then sleep. And repeat for 6 days.

Personally for me, I just fell out of the whole "gaming" phenomenon. I have a lot of IRL stuff to do. Work, college...etc. I haven't played ANY games for the past 6 months or perhaps even more. I just come through the forums every now and then to see how ya'll are doing.

Community was not what it was from when I was a regular (2008-2014)

And, moved onto more interesting games.

No you’re right. It was shutdown because we don’t want to have that conversation anymore without HQ blessing.

The lack of roleplay and mostly the complicated gameplay was my only problem.
It requires a lot of time to read and understand the hundreds of commands to be able to play properly.

I wish i knew the exact reason, but the best i can describe it is that these days i don't find enjoyment in playing alone (without being in discord with friends or whatever) casually anymore, i guess it's because i've been playing games for so long i no longer see the appeal in it anymore. I do however play (other games) with friends i have made online in a game i played for a number of years during and after my time on argonath.

It's just that if i see that none of my friends are online i won't even bother to start a game, it just feels like work, boring, i dont know how to describe it.
One could argue that playing samp is not really playing "alone" since it's a multiplayer game, however i never really connected with my ingame friends outside of the game, i remember all the good times i've had in this community but i also forgot a lot of it, and let's be honest, i've probably been forgotten too by most people and a lot of the friends i had in this game have left as well. Maybe that is one reason, playing this game for so many years and then coming back as a stranger.

Other than that, i also have a lot less free time due to my studies and i also picked up a new hobby since a shooting range opened 10 minutes from my house, a lot of my free time goes into that now.

Sorry for this disorganized rant, i really had no idea what to write and this was the result, i just had to write something since i end up reading this forum every 6 months or so but i never actually write anything.

University and life ultimately have taken most of my time, along with the fact that playing the same game for years eventually grows tiresome.

Like many other people here it's simple to see that people can only enjoy the same game for so long, and sooner or later work creeps up more and more into a person's schedule.

I came back in April 2019 to try and add some time to the server that I have loved growing up. I have made great friends here. But in June 2019 I was told that the vision of the server which I quoted at that point, was no more relevant. And this was said by a SAMP Manager so it was credible.

This was unacceptable for me. How can a vision change? It is something that is fundamental and if that did change, I have no place here. It would not be the Argonath I had known and felt great to play on. Accordingly, I left.

Will remember the good times.

I am sorry to hear that and I totally feel you. Unfortunately the vision of the server is decided by incompetent people who enjoy playing alone.

Personally, what keeps me from joining the server is the low playerbase. No point playing when there's only 5-6 players online, interaction is way too limited.  Otherwise, the script itself is not that bad in my opinion. Can't speak about management, as I haven't had any problems with staff in quite some time. Too bad, as Cutter stated, I will remember all the good times I had here. Perhaps advertising the server would help (if it pays up, cost-wise).

Honestly I keep checking every now and then, I've been here since 2008 so this is a second home for me.
University got me working my ass off, I have a year and a half and then I'm done for a while (break time)
I don't have the game anymore, got a version that isn't compatible with SA-MP so might try getting an other one later

Gandalf and Ron had a vision of having a simple, relaxed environment for players. Not one with anything complex, which I felt it became back then (hence the rooting for rs 4 related scripts). My point then was that we didn't need a heck load of jobs, crafting or what not to have 100+ players in 2010-12/13.  New players need friendly people; not a lot of scripts or rules. This being the vision I grew up with (in Argonath terms), I couldn't disagree more and hence I left.

But this place is very special for me and will be so  :)

Well, maybe the staff should plan a big Meetup event type thing where all of us can be back again together for a day atleast. No one wants to join a server with 0 players playing. Maybe this Meetup event will make the server active for a day. If this Meetup event day thing worked, then maybe plan a Meetup weeks where we all can be back together and enjoy.

People will get to know that there will be people playing at that time of the day. And most importantly, all active staff members should also join and roleplay with us, make sure you guys aren't busy in admin duties.

One more thing, why not to extend this community. Not by its name but by its players. I mean, players active here should play other games together too, because SA is old. And, together we can raid different games and join Argonath too 😁, I mean, we should contact each other and plan a time to play. Argonath, and different games too. I hope you're feeling me.

Well the Svenssons used to play a lot of other games when we were a bit younger, and we still do from time to time! I play with a lot of other people from here aswell! :)

With this I agree.. so much more scripts are implemented. The jobs are fun I guess, but just a lot more complexity as you shared here.
Even when alot of DM'ers were on servers I still RPed as a freecop without any script. That was just fun, didn't care about the killing money.

Just makes things heavy when stuff like farming (in some areas) are for members-only e.g. with respect to all.

I can list admins and managers that have not the slightest idea of how some rules work because they don't know how the situation developed so that we had rules/scripts introduced, they know jack shit. Don't listen to them, go read them yourself, it's that simple. Btw a player compiled the rules list, HQ is just editing the post.

1) Life, growing up, adult responsibilities, leaving time for only one Argo server, which means VCMP
2) I don't like to play with myself. Atleast not in that way. The refusal to see the reality and pretend that 10 players in a map like San Andreas is "fine" and "things are getting better" is something that I can't share with the rest of the still active players, unfortunately.
3) The whining culture that was in SAMP ever since its beginning. Sorry. Even Aragorn said it himself once  :strong:

SA is just too old. I've actually never ever finished the game cause I couldn't care less about SP. It's all SA:MP baby! And it's gone now.

I would believe it if they actually left during the current hq time. I like the other 22 percent and the comments of people aswell, they are more convincing, especially Cutt3r's and Huntman's. Locked since the poll is over.
