Title: /ignore cmd
Post by: Tomasiro on May 13, 2020, 08:46:20 pm
Sup y'all! I wanted to suggest a cmd like /ignore or something unique to ignore an individual/everybody's chat.

I know this thing ain't much necessary but I got two reason to implement this cmd

1. Players might feel offended by any good joke or anything which might not be actual provocative yet provocative to target player. This thing is an additional reason.

2. A guy might want main chat disabled to do his own / group roleplay and doesn't want any external mainchat to cut off the roleplay chat among each other, infact while there is a topic rise up and people starts gossiping with each other.

there can be a drawback where
1. A player who is ignored in main chat, can come ICly and spam the shit outta nowhere to the person who ignored him.

2. A player might want to convoy an important message to the player but can't because he is ignored.

For that, Admins will have a access to ignore list where they can remove the ignore for definite / indefinite time.

Player who will be seen trying to evade ignore script by spamming OOC crap ICly via. rp cmds should get severe punishment

The cmd effect to be stay for infinite time till the guy changes it's ip or player removes ignore from the target

(p.s :- radios, cb and roleplay chats have nothing to do with main chat ignore)

Lemme know if you like the idea or if you want to add your opinion. Both are always welcome

I don't think this is a good idea. So if you want to roleplay with your group, would you have to ignore everyone on the server? I didn't understand your point.

The general concensus among the development team is we do not want to introduce a way for a player to mute/ignore another player's main chat. Asking different people in the development team may yield you different reasons, many of which I agree with too.

With that being said, I do recognise that when the chat goes really fast, eventhough it isn't always the case, it can be really easy to miss messages for various reasons. So while, no, I'm not adding /ignore, I am looking into the possibility of adding a way to either make the colours of the messages more distinguishable or adding a seperate chat GUI that can be enabled/disabled by the player for only roleplay commands.

We will never implement the ability for a player to not see main chat or ignore a specific player.

Fuzzie's suggestion is good so you don't miss out on roleplay in case the server is packed and the chat goes fast for our standards.
