Title: Thank you to all health and essential workers
Post by: Norrage on December 28, 2020, 10:50:15 pm
Figured it would be a good time to show a thank you to all community members that are either working in the healthcare or any other essential work that helped all of us through the coronacrisis.

"We are being completely overrun with corona cases it's panic time le black death 2.0"
Also healthcare workers:

Genuine applauds to those who take their work seriously. But considering the crazy amount of videos with this healthcare fooling around bullshit, one is not wrong in doubting the claims.
If you are part of that dance bullshit as a healthcare worker. Shame on you.

I can agree with part of what you're saying but it is important to remember that lots of frontline services had dogshit shifts imposed on them by this pandemic; for instance I know of 2 people that are A&E nurses and they spent a week doing 15-18 hours a day and sleeping at their hospital to meet demand. Demand they'd never seen before and there was no realistic formal policy or procedure in place to respond to it.

I personally had days off cancelled and started at 5am  every day for 7 days in a row, finishing at 7pm and seriously doubting life choices for 3 weeks. I was then deployed onto what was effectively a body recovery team for Covid victims dying outside of a hospital setting for 3 months.

Having done that and being aware of the demands placed on some of these frontline workers I do understand where the humorous videos and generally just pratting about come from, it's black humour. Comes across as unprofessional but it is a recognised way of dealing with trauma and stress.
