Title: Helping Argonath SA:MP

Greetings everyone,

First of all I would like to thank you all for providing us the best experience in SAMP ever.

I was recently invited to play on another SAMP server which has like 50+ players and I kind of got back into the game, it feels good to play and hour or two per day to enjoy with my old friends from Argonath.
However, my main concern was - why don't we fucking play on Argonath and try bringing back the player base and older players to join regularly? That way we can even attract new, quality players.

So, I spoke to Acika Luciano, Dexi Gvardia, Cofiliano Gvardia, Jovanca Gvardia, Stevke Luciano, [Rstar]Razor and many more and we all agreed that it hurts us to see 0 players on Argonath.

If anyone is interesting in supporting this movement, please let's discuss it here and eventually contact Gandalf/Aragorn (damn, I still have ton of respect when I mention them even though I never got a chance to communicate directly".

Come on guys, let's make Argonath great again, seeing all those Paki servers with 100+ players just hurts my feelings because Argonath should have 500+ players then.
Let's go!

Let me get you up to speed with what's going on SAMP since this sounds like the SAMP server is dead. We still have active players and leadership on the server. We do want to gain more players but at the moment my focus has been updating the server and fixing features so the server is more fun and attractive to new players. To be honest, the SAMP server has a lot of problems, gameplay wise. I started as a developer in July so we have been tackling the issues since then. I would recommend you guys to stop by the Argonath discord to chat if you guys want to return. Unfortunately, the owners aren't really involved anymore but we have active community leaders. We get around 0 - 10 players daily but we do peak at around 20 on special occasions. We have a lot yet to do but if you guys have any input, I would welcome it.

I appreciate your level of effort and how you're helping the server but please read the below quote:

"If I just add this feature, I’ll be a step closer to the competition and that much more likely to get customers."

Building more features does not mean you'll get more users. It's a common trap a lot of companies fall into.

Treat it as a product. Listen to your users. Build only based on their feedback. There is a bigger discussion to be had around building and maintaining a community but I'm not the right person for that.

Yeah but right now it's a BROKEN product, you can't sell a broken product. Also I cannot solely build based on players' ideas or feedback. Players do not always know what is possible.

If Gandalf fully lends the ownership to someone very active this is verry possible to happen, if not then any attempts will fail. We have tried it before, it doesnt work pretty well.

And really quit this “trying to attract new player movements” idea, whoever is in charge now should focus on brining the veterans back active, creating a good atmosphere to them and making them be active and after you can actually think about new players. The only thing that kept Argonath alive was its own unique players and groups which made it so attractive and fun to play.

I have some context on what happened in the Discord (but no access, cause you know, banned and all). I think this is one of the times where I believe the intention is what matters. We should encourage others to invite their friends to come back. Yet, with only the right intention - working towards making an active community.

Reposting my message from the Argonath Discord for some of the recent arrivals/returnees who have not shown good intentions and only caused trouble since coming back. Two of them have since been banned, and one tempbanned.

Quote from: JDC
Stop walking around like you were trying to do something good, when what you and your friends tried to do here involved the following:

- Repeated mass deathmatching
- Deathmatching admins
- Moaning
- Trolling
- Use of derogatory racist terms despite admins warning you to stop
- Threatening admins/players
- Using your so-called "veteran" status against others as if you are special or more better
- Other general acts of fucking around and breaking the rules

If you are used to the kind of poorly-run community that allows all the above things, then we have to break it to you that Argonath today is not that kind of place. So you can drop the bullshit, [name]. You are not special or more better than anyone, and you do not get to walk in here, act like you own the place, and fuck over everyone else with your malicious intentions. We will not let you.

Rather than being stuck in the old ways, we choose to rebuild by learning from the mistakes of the past; from past abusive leaders who dragged the HQ and server down, to players and groups like you who repeatedly cause trouble for everyone else just for their own amusement.

For everyone else who has not engaged in the above inappropriate behavior, you are just as welcome as any new or regular player and have nothing to worry about.
