SA:MP Legacy Status, Future Shut Down, and Bans
As discussed before, we plan on shutting down the SA:MP server after the MTA:SA server is released. This announcement is about the current situation with the SA:MP server. After discussing with Brian my plans for the future of the SA:MP server, the server will be put into a legacy status. This means that the server is officially not supported anymore for any updates. We are also not recruiting for any staff or developers for this server. Right now only a handful of players still join the server, most of which have under an hour of gameplay for the whole month. There will also be an announcement put in game about this legacy status with information with our discord and forums if they want to follow us moving forward into MTA:SA.
In 2023, the SA:MP server will be shut down once the MTA:SA server is fully released. It is currently the plan to have a public test for the MTA:SA server in February 2023 and later that year, release the server fully. After the full release, the SA:MP server will be shut down and the forum boards will be archived but still able to be viewed. The discord channels have already been "archived" but can still be used if necessary. We currently have some new MTA:SA discord channels in the main Argonath discord but those are only temporary. Once we have the public test, the Argonath MTA:SA Discord server will be open to the public. Currently it's only used/accessed by testers.
The last part of this is relating to ban appeals. If you are currently banned and want to be unbanned to experience the server once again before the server shuts down, please put in a ban appeal. You still have to put reasonable effort into it and be respectful but I'm open to be lenient on any past bans (within reason). Each ban appeal will be case by case based on past behavior and behavior since. Since the server is on it's way out, I don't mind players coming back to experience it. No data will be transferred to the MTA:SA Server including bans so everyone will start with a fresh slate. Depending on your ban, your ban appeal should only take a week or less. Based on severity, it may be denied. Since the SA:MP server is considered legacy and not supported is why I wish to be lenient but this does not mean you can still break rules in game and you will be banned again if you break the rules.
San Andreas may be an old game but we will continue with San Andreas in a new way on a new client. This won't last forever since San Andreas is already on it's way out and has been but maybe we can have some fun in the meantime. Thank you all for your support and feedback.
Thank you,
Badandy
