Post by: Trix on March 03, 2008, 12:52:01 pm
Just Flying along, enjoying the ride……..

Oh my, this is so much fun…………it's so great being a pilot.

Hmmm something feels different……………
(http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q255/trix_8/3.jpg)

Hey, why am I looking up………….??

Oops…….my controls aren't working???

Where's my F-15……………??

Oh………there it is……….

I think I'm having separation anxiety…………

OK………I'm out here……..but first the canopy has to go…….

Glad that worked………..

That's it……….now I'm gone……….

Can you imagine what was going through this poor pilot's mind?

AND, just what caused the mid air break up………….

U.S. Air Force's announcement on Thursday said that a Missouri
National Guard F-15 jet broke apart in midair on Nov. 2, 2007; the pilot
evacuated the plane safely. The break-up in mid air was blamed on parts that didn't meet specifications; which raises issues ranging from national security to potential legal action and even foreign sales.

maybe some people should read the paper instead of playing games all day ??!!

but eh its pretty old news as you can see here

All F-15 aircraft were grounded by the U.S. Air Force after an Missouri Air National Guard F-15C came apart in flight and crashed on 2 November 2007. The newer F-15E fleet was later cleared for continued operations. The U.S. Air Force reported on 28 November 2007 that a critical location in the upper longerons on the F-15C model was suspected of causing the failure, causing the fuselage forward of the air intakes, including the cockpit and radome, to separate from the airframe.

It happened but the f15 seems to crash a lot lately (c model is from 74-78) time to replace them

Doesn't that explain why it snapped... metal bends and when bent enough snaps...

Now that I think of it, I think I heard that it was caused by a faulty bolt or something. I have also heard that the nose of the f15 is held on by a bolt a little bigger than a wood screw  :wow:

Alot of jets flight over Missouri and St. Louis. (I heard one atleast once every two days.) But this is the first story I ever hear of one of them breaking down in mid-air. Hey, atleast no crops were hurt from farm land, because nothing is growing... midwest weather. It is rather old news though... dates back to January. Here is the news report: http://www.myfoxstl.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail;jsessionid=13EE3613DBBF59F4E1B18D0462C3FFB7?contentId=5450380&version=3&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=1.1.1&sflg=1
