Post by: Paroxysm on March 10, 2008, 11:09:10 am
Hey if someone can work these out for me, I'll love ya forever.

8a) Find the base length of a triangle whose area is 36cm² and whose height is 4 cm.
  b) A rectangular postage stam 12mm long by 8mm wide has the same area as a Circular Stamp. Find the Diameter of the circular postage stamp to one decimal    place
  c) A god metal plate in the shape of a equilateral triangle with side length 10cm has a 5cm square neatly cut of it, Find

   i) The area of the gold cut out
   ii) the area of gold left over

Probably easy stuff, but I'm not too good with this area of maths..

Thanks if someone can work it out  :)

Area of a triangle = (baseXheight)/2

So, 36cm2= (BaseX4)/2
                                                               Multiply the whole thing by 2
72cm2= Base X 4
                                                              Divide the whole thing by 4
18cm=Base

To check...

(BaseXheight)/2

18X4= 72

72/2 = 36

i Can do C for u

  c) A god metal plate in the shape of a equilateral triangle with side length 10cm has a 5cm square neatly cut of it, Find

   i) The area of the gold cut out
   ii) the area of gold left over
SOOO

C..

cos
Area of Sq = SxS
5x5 = 25Cm2

Of cause Equallateral is all equal sooo

BxPH/2
10x10/2
50Cm2

THEN minus 25Cm2 Away from 50Cm2
= 25Cm2

Relying on other people for answers and theorys is not always right, therefor i suggsest you check the theorys instead accepting them right away.

*Btw I hate maths  :razz:*
