I have AOL, it really sucks. Their customer service is shit, they keep you on hold for 40minutes and put you through to an indian guy at his home, shouting at his 12 kids to be quiet.

What you describe is very similar to what happened to my internet, shortly after my phoneline was struck by lightning and fried my router. (The connection slowly deteriorated).

So your router could be the problem. Do as cDa said if you havnt, may be a dodgy ethernet connection.

Do you have power or phoneline surge protection? If not a power spike in either of these could have fried the router.

only a power surge protection, but where it has "internet" "eathernet" "power" "dsl" there is a light on top of all of them lighting green means its fine, flashing green means its not red means busted, and there all lighting green.....so i dont think its the router

If its all green the AOL server may be down in your area for some reason (because AOL's server shed may have been eaten by rats again), but if your router is bust then they may still be all green.

thanks for all the help, after 2 days without internet we called aol, i told them what was wrong (they told me to do things i already knew of) none of it worked, then we checked to see if it was the connection or my PC, ends up AOL was down in my area and would take another day to fix, and now its fixed. i mean wtf though AOL was down for 3 hours in my area and i didn't get notified at all? i even looked on the internet to see if it was down anywhere but no warnings or information on it. argh. thanks allot guys for trying to help :)
