recepy to a messed up pc, i never did a defrag in any of my pcs and they are fine, that's almost a myth. It only works on pc's full of shit.

gee, yeah, helps a lot with a internet connectivity issue!
And yeah, it doesn't help the connection.

MY ANSWER:
-turn off your anti virus when you play.
-doesn't work? turn off the firewall. Maybe it has a gamemode.

give it a try, if it stays the same, turn them on again. If it improves, turn of the AV and firewall when you play(and turn them on in the derby  ).

First of all ping is also affected by lag, if a client computer is running slower than usual, ping ingame will jump, he didnt ask why is is download sloweerd he asked for ping, first step is to clean junk, if that isnt problem we will move on.

Doug, please be more polite u have been warned once for similar remarks

I have absolutely no AV now and my PC hasn't caught fire yet.

Maybe my computer is full of virus, but it is still faster than some of my classmates laptops and they have AV. I had it with AVs, they give more trouble then they solve. I'm currently looking for a simple one, just to check dangerous files such as downloads and nothing more.

And some AVs need to have active security turn of so you can play online, otherwise, you won't be able to play due to extreme lag.

(But XP with no AV is complete danger...)
