nice idea :)
I hope they will do what they have to do.

To all Argonath RPG and MTA 0.5 Users,
Recently, Moneris0, myself, and EvilSforza came up with an idea to try and persuade the Multi Theft Auto Team into continuing the development of the Multi Theft Auto (GTA3/VC) 0.6, and MTA: Blue (VC) clients. Due to the many critical and fatally-erroring bugs that appear in the MTA 0.5 client, we have requested that a petition be made to try and "force" the Multi Theft Auto Team into seeing that many more users than they believe actually do still care about GTA 3 and Vice City so that a new, bug-free client is made. We were promised such features and bug-fixes many years ago that never came to light, and because of the release of San Andreas, the Multi Theft Auto Team put their focus elsewhere. Their excuse was that no one cared about the older GTA games anymore, and that they were too busy with working on a San Andreas multiplayer client. Now, a few years later, after things have settled down, we believe it's time the Multi Theft Auto Team put their focus back on the users who have stayed loyal all these years. All we ask is that you sign this petition in order to show them that users do still care enough for them to make an effort at a GTA 3/VC multiplayer client comeback. Once we get enough signatures, we plan on sending this petition directly to the Multi Theft Auto Team, along with other various messages, to see that this happens. By no means is this any kind of promise or guarantee that any new clients will be made, but I will promise you that it's worth a try! Let's unite the MTA gaming communities and show the Multi Theft Auto Team that we just want to have fun without dealing with all these bugs!
Here is the link to the petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/mtab1u3/petition.html (http://www.petitiononline.com/mtab1u3/petition.html)
Please spread the word if you can. We want to try and get as many signatures as possible. If anyone finds any similar petitions like this one that already exist, please leave a comment with a link to it in your signature. Thanks guys and have fun! Long live the MTA gamers!
P.S. This may help you decide: http://www.mtablue.info/
That is what we were promised and never got...

I will keep this topic sticky until you guys are ready to send it to the MTA team ;)

Well i signed it altho i only played it once and hated it ;P
-
i signed as well :) i hope this works
-
Signed, of cause. ;)
-
I signed it, and I hope they do make it sounds really good. But one part of the Petition I didn't agree with is that VC:MP crashes every 5 mins? That doesn't happen to me  But don't get me wrong, theres loads of bugs

26th signature! :rules:

It crashes as often as MTA for me...

46 signatures!
54 to go
-
46 signatures isn't bad for just over 1 day ;)
We will get there!
-
26th signature! :rules:
1St. :)

Mex and I spotted MTA Blue long time ago, we were very sad that they stopped development for it. The sync would be much better and not as many bugs, plus it may have given some better scripting possiblities (hopefully).
I hope they will reconsider the development.
-
Even though i can't get MTA VC to work on my vista, i signed. ;)
-
Last time I checked, 70 sigs :D
-
Although I'm not a active member of the MTA:VC section, I have added my vote to the petition. It's currently 71 votes, good luck MTA:VC.
-
I signed too :)
MTA Rulez!
-
We're up to 74 signatures in just about 3 days! Nice job guys! Keep it going! When we get over 100, I'll start watching the petition until the signing gets really slow. After that Moneris0 and I will send it off to the MTA Team as we prepare to convince them to create a MTA 0.6 and/or MTA: Blue client for us faithful gamers! :)
This will probably begin as a back and forth fight, :flame: so I'll try to keep you posted with what happens! :rules:
Note To Vista Users: If you're having issues with running GTA games under Vista, blame the companies that make your drivers, not Vista. The drivers may say they are Vista-compatible, but they aren't Vista-friendly. Your drivers' companies got lazy. I have the same issue under Vista, and 99.99999% of the time it's a cheaply made video driver made to work under Vista when it was actually coded for XP only...
-
I just hope they make MTA 0.6, All they make now is San Andreas, and that is getting a bit boring, but if they dont make it, I've got a idea, There was a MTA Unoffical Update, which was realased, I have a feeling the only part they worked on MTA:Blue was realsed in that update, Why don't one of you guys ask Sauron, Or Gandalf, If they can look at the update and edit it, or we can get someone working from inside MTA, to help us, even though its a crazy idea, it might just work. The Update includes a Ambulance, and lots of interiors, like Ken's Office, the print works, and so on, also when u /kill it gets you out of the car straight away. And they were working on the Paint & Spray, but all they could do is open them, not make them work.
-
or if they dont want to do it, they could just release the source, so the many new developers and take it on from there and add interiors and fix the bugs, ass some more sync, and less crashes
but then there would be many releases from different people :poke:
he could release it to dev's only, but not public
-
yea er cool erm 80+ sigs chea
-
83 :)
An update would be so awesome, even if it's just a small one with a few bugs fixed.

True ;)
-
Obi1 good job to say that here, because the MTA Crew will see that when they check for authenticy on this forum
:)
-
Just to clear it up, MTA: Blue is just the core part, the technology running "under the hood". Blue is already being used in MTA:SA.
What most of us are waiting for, is a new MTA:VC release based on the Blue core.
Some of you may have spotted the MTA:VC Unofficial Update on the MTA forums. This version is based on MTA:VC 0.5 and doesn't include any Blue technology.
-
How many votes you think we need to win this you think ?
-
I placed my vote. It's 87 now.
I think a mininum of 100 is needed, if they're to consider this is a reasonable proposal.

/me signs petition

w00p, 93 signatures! :D

Nice :P Now Moneris, send it off to MTA! :D
-
hmm,
how? :(

UPDATE!
After messaging the MTA Development and Administrator teams, here's the first reply I've received back:
Re: Regarding the future of MTA: VC

We'd love to do it, but we really don't have enough manpower to do it right now. If we had a couple more developers we might be able to consider it I guess. Once we have DP3 out, we'll discuss it and see if we think it's feasible. No promises, but we'll do our best.
-
Well, thats something I guess...
-
:hurray: We got the 100. Well, at least we managed to convince them that MTA blue is important. The next step is to make sure they do make this project.
Or if otherwise, convince them to release the source, so one of us can finish it.
-
I mentioned that second part in the message to them as well.
-
well, they probably always said that...
hmm... on more year to go until they get "manpower"
-
So?, have we won, are they going to make MTA Blue
-

... who knows

Most developers went to VC:MP...

UPDATE:
Here's the second reply I've received from an MTA Team developer so far:
Re: Regarding the future of MTA: VC

First off, sorry for the late reply. Real life caught up with me and I have not been active in the community anymore.
We never abandoned GTA3:MTA or MTA:VC because of to few players but simply because we followed the GTA franchise. San Andreas came up and we have been focussing on SA ever since.
Blue was the codename for the third generation of MTA and development started on Vice City. Back in those days we even started a port to GTA III codenamed MTA:Green, both using the same server codenamed Spearhead. The focus of Blue has always been to build a modular system so we could switch to new games or implement new scripting languages. Even back then the focus was to be modular. But since then a lot has changed and virtually nothing of the code from back then has survived.
Even while we were working on MTA:SA we also wanted to make one last version for GTA III and VC. MTA 0.5.5 took a lot of work but was never finished. It ran almost perfectly on GTA III but due to bad coding it was getting worse on VC then 0.5. At a certain time we beleived it was impossible to fix the code in any reasonable time and that we had to start back from the 0.4 branch to make 0.5.5 playable and so we abandoned all hope and refocused on MTA:SA.
I have talked to Ijs about your request and he will have another look at releasing the source of MTA:VC but alsi immediately warned me about the bad shape it is in. If we release it and someone does decide to make a next version he/she will have a lot of work to do just to clean it up.
There's hope out there still guys...
From the 2 replies I've received so far, one developer has mentioned continuing the project, the other turning it over to the eager communities. Either way, if all turns out like we hope, we may be receiving an update in the future one way or another! :)
-
Bad coding...It looks like they didn't use the correct approach to develop this software.
-
Well the project was started many years ago, so making a multiplayer client for GTA was still very new, and explored unknown territory at the time.
-
Anyway, the news are better than nothing ;)
-
I hope something happens. Vice City is sometimes more fun than San Andreas
-
So what are they exactly saying, No MTA Blue? WTF whats the point of making a Mta blue page, why they going to do tht.
-
MTA Blue was started, but the team found it hard to concentrate on two projects, and chose for the one for SA.
But with that one now giving less headache they are willing to check out in how bad shape the VC version is.
It is a start, lets hope that there can be found some programmers who want to support bringing out 0.5.5
-
Ok, I really hope they do, cause I like the fact it will be fully modeable, then I can put loads of car models, skins, paricles and stuff, GO MTA Blue!
-
Great news on this guys!:
http://forum.multitheftauto.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=23850
This means we may have a chance for updates!
Somebody's gonna ask eventually, so I'll ask: what about MTA 0.5?
I guess that's possible. MTA 0.5's code is probably some of the worst you've ever seen. It's held together with sticky tape....
I'm about to crap myself over this! :D
-
I signed it...i played MTA VC for 2 years and i'd like to see a new one
-
Let's see how this code goes, if we get support from developers outside the team, we'll consider releasing the code for 0.5 and/or Race.
I'd be willing to work on 0.5 SCM-wise, but I would need some C++ people to handle the client. First thing I'd do (assuming I got someone to work on the client) is fix the server browser, add my VC SCM update, add Steam's version of VC/GTA3 support (somebody said this was a simple check of the game .exe version before I believe so that should be easy), and release that after further testing. Then we'd go from there.
:D
-
i HOPE they make a new MTA, and something too that Avast or Symantec doesnt classify as trojans :(
-
Awesome, I hope this becomes reality!
By: Moe Ross
-
I just hope they do more versions of MTA:VC :S
-
May I ask why this topic was unpinned? An admin, former admin, and user put this together specifically so Argo users could help in the petition and now the topic is getting kicked down the list and ignored...
-
I think we all care about this project, but the reality is that they proberly won't make it now.
-
Won't make it? Haven't you been reading the updates? They're considering open-sourcing it and maybe working on it again! TownCivilian over at the MTA site has already said that all he needs is the source and a programmer to finish his unofficial update for it! :)
-
Bump/Update!:
The MTA Team has stated that they will see how the open sourcing of MTA:SA goes, and if all goes well, they will release the MTA 0.5 source, which gives TownCivilian on the MTA site the ability to finish his update!
-
168 Signatures Total :D
-
193 signatures!
-
lol nice bump. Any news from MTA team yet?
-
Don't get me wrong from this post, I love MTA:VC and miss playing on it, and I would personally LOVE to see a new MTA:VC version be released... I'll just become the devil's advocate for now when presenting these views.
1. VC is a very old game
-"Old is Gold", as is the saying. However, due to the age and declining popularity of Vice City, the chances of a new MTA:VC get lower and lower.
2. Rival GTA:VC Multiplayer Mods
-Sure, VC:MP has been opposing MTA:VC for a very long time even way before the ASE shut down. However, with the recent release of the "Vicious Cocounut Organization" (lol) mod, there's another reason to say "why bother?" when it comes to the question of making a new MTA:VC.
The only thing that could possibly drive the MTA Team to come out with MTA:VC 0.6 is popular demand. But when you look at it, the demand may not be enough or it could be enough, but still not sufficient to persuade the MTA Team. Believing that MTA:VC 0.6 will still come out takes a great deal of faith. We're all thinking "MTA Team may not release MTA:VC 0.6" more and more often, I'm just saying it.
-
Signed
-
Be optimistic!!!
There are future plans arising if MTA:SA 1.0 is finished the way everyone hopes.
BTW, I bumped this because it was supposed to be a sticky'ed topic in the MTA section, but someone obviously ruined that :P
-
*BUMP!*
The MTA Dev Team gave in! They are allowing us to redo the client with SA's "Blue" core, (converted of course)! We have permission to start development! We are waiting on a few things, but a team exists and we are on our way! Updates soon!!!
The project's current site:

Wow you are excited. I'm actually surprised to see YOU surprised because YOU ARE IN THE TEAM THAT IS WORKING ON IT. :)
Just because im in the team, doesnt mean I cannot get excited! This just means progress! :D
-
Wow, awesome!
How much progress has been underway?
-
Well, we have official support from the MTA devs, but we need C++ coders bad right now. Know any? :)
