Title: Troubleshooting: Packet loss or hearing yourself?
Post by: Radagast on April 11, 2008, 03:29:23 pm
A GUIDE by MrJohannes - Hearback

This is the solution for those using SAM and hear themselves back through their speakers / headphones.

Step 1, Open SAM Broadcaster.

Step 2, locate the Voice FX Panel, and do the following:

1) Make sure that the Microphone is turned off (the light is not lit up)
2) Click on "Config".

Next, you'll need to change a setting in the Config window:

1) Under "Voice FX Destination", select "Encoders (Record to pipeline, skip output)"
2) Click OK.

Now it should all be working fine, with no more hearing yourself (which is very off-putting)

Thanks for reading,

MrJohannes

If when you speak on the radio, your voice sounds broken or it skips just like a CD then this is the topic for you.
On 'Desktop A' click 'Config' on the 'Voice FX' panel.

Where the red oval is, that is normally set to 10ms. Move it all the way up to 50ms, so that your sound card can send packets more quickly, this method removes packet loss. Simple yet effective.
