Title: MTA VC Trojan detected...
Post by: moneris0 on May 04, 2008, 08:37:05 am
i went and re installed my Windows (it was hijacked by some hackers) and i had installed NOD32 anti-virus on it

so i went to install MTA:VC and before opening NOD32 popped up saying that it found a "Ofiscated Trojan" and i know MTA VC isnt a trojan, so now when i open the setup it says "windows cannot access specified file or folder" thing...

help!?!? !!!

i tried AVG before (it came with spyware bundle) and Avast (annoying "ding woo" popups)

has anybody tried Kaspersky with MTA VC???

EDIT: help i uninstalled NOD32, the error still pops up

It seems that MTA:VC has problems not only with avast!, but with other AV software too...

Add " *\MTAClient.exe " (or the full file path) to the exception list. Then it should work. Note that pressing 'ignore' when your AV is b****ing about the file, it will cut off access to it anyways.

One theory is that the newer versions of anti-virus software (avast for example) seems to have started checking what Mta:vc does to vice city.  :(

When mta:vc starts, it injects memory into gta:vc telling it to use that mta:vc mission script and other scripts instead for the original. It injects the netcodes needed for chatbox, syncronisation, mission scripts etc.  :rules:

As Mta:vc injects this the antivirus will check what mta:vc is doing, and as it thinks that mta:vc might be injecting malware into the game, and also that it's connecting tru your internet, it might think it's trying to establish a form of trojan connection, thus the antivirus disable it and label it trojan.

It sucks

I have it with AntiVir also I read somwhere that it has to do with how MTA hacks the memory alocation (since VC isnt their software they actually do "hack "it)

Its not trojan in the scense of someone trying to enter your pc although if someone at the MTA team would want to ..it would be easy for them this way

just use a firewall with reasonably strict settings it will warn you if a programm you are not using at the moment is trying to acces the internet

a firewall is a MUST have for everyone keep it up to date
