I have no idea what happened to my computer but I will try to explain...
Normally when I turn the computer on it will automatically load up straight to the desktop, under the name "user" which is not passworded.
But I went to restart my computer and discovered that it went to a login screen with 2 login names, "Administrator" and "user". I first went into user and when it loaded up, I noticed most of the icons on the desktop were missing and I then straight away checked my documents, and nothing was there... only default folders like "My Music/videos/etc". I then went on as "Administrator" and the exact same thing happened, not many icons on the desktop and empty documents folders... None of the logins were passworded.
I then checked how much space was on the Local C drive and it was around the same as before if I can remember. I have no idea why this has suddenly happened.... I mean I went into "cmd" to change a couple of settings for the computer but I don't know how that could relate to this, but I have a feeling it is somehow and all settings like my Firefox settings are gone and my messenger has gone to the one that comes with Windows :(
Please, if anyone can help me get my computer back to normal, I have very important files on here which I need to access and I know they are still on here!

Check your PC for the available user profiles. Probably you renamed 'user' to your name, making a new profile.
If you find the users there will be 'administrator', 'user', 'all users' and hopefully one more name ('Hess').
You either login as that user, or copy all folders from that user to one of the other accounts.

The only 3 users are "Administrator", "user" and "Guest" (guest is switched off)...
When I went to user accounts first on "user" I realised that for some reason it was a "Limited Account" and that Administrator obviously had the "Computer Administrator" status... so I set user has Administrator also and then got rid of the "Administrator" account. But this has done nothing to put the computer back to normal... I really dunno what I'm doing. And I did check through just about every folder under the documents, but this is all that is there:
My Computer (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w229/hesselsch/screen1.jpg)
User Account settings (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w229/hesselsch/screen2.jpg)
I never did change any names at all, however I may have changed and removed passwords by using cmd as I said before :S
But I know all the files are still on here because all the processes are running in task manager and they are all listed on "Add/Remove programs" under the Control Panel...
EDIT: Oh yeah, and all my Shared Documents are still accessible...

I just found all my documents! :D
But... what do I do with them, they are in a completely different location on the computer, and how to I get all my settings and configurations back to normal?
EDIT: Ok, I decided to take a small (hopefully) risk by copying all those files to the "My Documents" location... I hope it works... now copying.
EDIT2: I've just had a nasty thought... when I was in cmd before this problem occurred, i typed "net config" and it said command complete or something which I did not expect... I thought it would have come up with some sort of configuration settings but I must have been wrong :(. Is there ANY way to undo this?

CTRL Z??
just copy and paste.. u might have to Format...

The files are fine, the configuration of this computer is not...

Wooooot! It works like a charm again! :hurray:
tyvm stiffler, you're the best!!! :D
Now all I need to do is reinstall some programs ;)
EDIT: Aww, I have to reinstall every program that was installed into my personal documents folder... including Vice City and San Andreas which I'm not sure where the installation for those are... I think it's coz I moved "user's documents" to "my documents" and all of the .exe's and .dll's were removed in the process :(
-
no problem, i remember when my bike got jacked and you got it back for me:P so we're even

Damn, I knew something would go wrong if I did that, now I can't get into any of the programs... and when I try reinstalling some I get .dll errors :( The reason I said it was a "risk" is because when i was copying it from user documents to my documents it came up with a warning saying programs may not function anymore if I continue :(

Lol, I don't think I remember that, but np anyway :P
