And nof or the crooked formula.

if you say a=b, in this case 5+5+5 = a and 554 = b.

if a = b then a * b = a * a, also you should be able to say (a * b) - (b * b) = ( a * a ) - (b * b)
This can be rewritten as b * (a - b) = a * (a - b)
When you divide both sides by (a - b) as is possible in math, you get as result a = b

Which proves that a (5+5+5) = b (554).

Now the high IQ guys should be able to solve this math paradox...

Your calculations are wRONg, they fail at the begining already.
Ok so let's put the begining into the numbers.
if a = b then (...)
if 5+5+5 = 554 then (...)
if 15 = 554 then (...)
   15 ≠ 554 - FALSE
See, here is IF 15 = 554, but obviously 15 is not 554, it's FALSE (a ≠ b), therefore you can't make the rest of calculations. You could do all the rest calculations (which would prove nothing anyway, as "a = b" is a first condition, and also a result of the prove, so it has no any sense at all) only if variable 'a' would equal variable 'b', but it doesn't.

Let me solve it 5+5+5=554 is true when

15a=554b
 and a= 36.93 so if u multiply 15 by that u will get 554

Sharphis in order to prove it mathematically I state that 5+5+5 = a and that 554 = b.
Then I prove that a = b by the calculation.
But there is a trick...

You start off with an assumption, you fiddle with the formula to make it look different and then fiddle with it some more the to make look how it was originially, just not by the same method. The calculations are perfectly valid but that does not mean you proved anything. Your concluding equation of a = b was drawn from an initaial equation which was itself an assumption. Only it would be proved that a = b if you added something else to show your assumption as true otherwise it is just as to say, "assuming a equals b, then a equals b".

(which would prove nothing anyway, as "a = b" is a first condition, and also a result of the prove, so it has no any sense at all)
But as I said that calculations don't prove anything. They just go like that:
a = b
a * b = a * a
(a * b) - (b * b) = (a * a) - (b * b)
a * (a - b) = b * (a - b)
a = b
How does it prove that a = b?

Stoppp it!!!!!!!!!
Title: Re: Got high IQ? think again!
Post by: Kitsune on July 05, 2008, 10:20:58 am
In terms of an actual proof, it is just as useful as to say:

If a = b
a + 5 = b + 5
a + 5 = b + 5
a = b
Therfore a = b

Both this and what you said started on an assumption and shows that the equation is true given the assumption is true. How is the assumption proved? :neutral:
