Title: I have always had this problem with GTA:SA , please read
Post by: Proxan on July 23, 2008, 01:17:03 am
Ok, heres the deal when I have played SA for a while and then quit. I cant start the game again if I dont reboot.
I need to crash ingame to relog or reboot. The problem is I cant shut down the process. I tried many other programs to shut down the gta_sa.exe process without success. I have tried to reinstall , ive tried the most of the things actually.

So now im asking you guys , what is the damn problem?

I think the problem is the GTASA.EXE are you using a Disc or a Crack? If Disc Private message I will help you on MSN.

Try right clicking the process and clicking "Kill Process Tree" (probably won't help, but something could be hanging onto GTASA disallowing it from being closed.)

I had this before, my solution was the make a batch file which opens when you do a certain key combination such as CTRL+ALT+Q and here is the code you need to put into the batch file:

taskkill /f /fi "imagename eq gta-vc.exe"

It will work the same as doing end proccess in task manager, only it does it automatically so the fact that the screen is frozen will not be a problem.

When I didn't have that batch file, I did this:

Press WINDOWSBUTTON+R
Type cmd
Press ENTER
Type taskkill /f /fi "imagename eq gta-vc.exe"
Press ENTER

The entire time, the screen remained frozen while I pressed the according keys, but after finished (assuming you typed everything exactly without a single typo), it exits the crashed VC and no more frozen screen.

If you didn't know, to make a batch file open notepad, type the code, then save it as filename.bat and for the key combination, you can make a shortcut to the file, then in the shortcut properties there is an option here you can choose it to run when you do a certain key combination. However, from previous experience, the hotkey will only work if you place the shortcut on the desktop or in certain other locations which I do not remember.
This may work, just change gta-vc.exe to gta_sa.exe.

Well , process tree didnt work.

And Ghosts idea didnt work either. It says "Succesfully shutdown gta_sa.exe process blabla" But its still there,

Well I have no idea whats the problem is guess I have to keep rebooting ;).

Im not using a disc , and actually I think I havent try to change .exe file , could someone upload one that you know 100% works.

And Vince as I was saying if I get error message that will say I crash then I dont need to relog. Because then the whole .exe file crash. So I guess if it doesnt work to change exe file I have to find a program that crashes files ^^

I have now discovered this is NOT a SA:MP issue. It also happends in single player...

If I quit game I cant start it again. If I crash I can start it again.

Summary: I need crash or reboot to get back ingame.
