Title: Entering a vehicle causes crashing.
Post by: Bilbo on August 04, 2008, 05:47:21 pm
Well, today I've already went like 5 times to SA-MP and Argonath. But like an hour or less ago when I went to SA-MP I noticed that everytime I enter a vehicle my game crashes. So, I ofcourse tryed the basic stuff I could;

F4 + /kill - No Effect
Restart game - No Effect
Restart PC - No Effect

When I enter a vehicle, I get tabbed out of the game and there comes an error message which says that SA-MP have crashed. Well I click OK of that message, but then there comes another one which says that I have may lost all data I've made before crashing. But, I can go continue my game if I don't press OK of that error message, since the game is still running. So I kept playing but when I entered another vehicle (2nd), the game totally crashed. And I haven't made any modifications to the game folder or anything. So now I need your help to solve this. Thank you! :)

Ye, reinstall the game. Make sure you also have not changed any sound or graphic settings previously, as this may cause some conflict between your hardware and the game engine.

I have Windows XP Professional, SP2. It have worked fine for a week but after yesterday it haven't worked as should. So I gues something has happened in the mean while. I ofcourse did a system restoration to time before that, but it didn't help either. Restarting doesn't help at all.

Have you recently updated your PC?

No, though this is a totally new pc, i have had it for few weeks now. I also copyed some files from our old hard drive and formatted it before this happened when it installed some drivers. Thats why I made the system restoration. So that won't be the trouble maker.

Installed any programs before this problem came?

Nope, and if I did, they have been removed during the system restoration.

No. System Restore only removes recent changes and cnfiguration changes. It keeps all recent files i.e Newly installed programs and downloads etc etc.

That is why you cannot system restore to get rid of a virus.

If this problem occurs with alot of software on your computer, I would strongly recommend using the Restoration Disk that came with your PC. Make sure you have backed up all your files, as this completely restores windows to when you first turned your PC on from fatory settings.

Actually it occurs only in SA-MP. And I doubt I will find any viruses which "may" cause this. Since I weren't on internet or anything like that before this happened. Only things I did was that I connected old hdd and formatted it and installed 3DMark 06. Which I can see is a trusted application.

Connecting another HDD is enough to spread a virus, but i'm not saying it is anything malicious, i've came across some very strange Trojans.....that where hiding in the volume control of one of the PCs where I work.

It is not likley it is a virus, but that is just to warn you if you do get a virus somehow.

Did you migrate San Andreas or install it?

And have you reinstalled it? A legit Legal copy?

I have reinstalled it. And it's  :cop: one. But it have worked fine for earlier. So I doubt it will be either because of that.

So is it working now...? Oh and do you have one or 2 HDDs attached? If you do, the reason may be one of the HDDs has the drivers needed for the hardware to run, i.e Video, graphics and sound cards.

I'm still doing the virus scan.. I'll try after it. And I have only 1 hdd attached. I just connected the 1 because it was from out old pc and needed formatting. And I tryed to get the hdd's drivers removed with the system restoration, but I need to try to disconnect it from the Device Management manually if it still is there. :) And all graphic cards and motherboards drivers are good, all games run properly. Expect SA-MP. :x

Did it run before on your current PC?

Or have you had this issue ever since you bought the current one.

Yes it did run before. Btw I checked the Device Manager, it shows that there is just 1 HDD as it should. But at Other Devices it shows an Unknown Device which is connected on PCI bus and that the drivers have not been installed for this device. :hmm:

e// Antivirus program have checked 43%.

Well, today I uninstalled the unknow device from the device manager. Rebootted pc and then there camed that that new hardware had been found. But since I don't know what it is and I don't have drivers for it, I letted it be. Since anything worked out fine without it. Even SA-MP is now working. So it doesn't crash when I enter a vehicle. But, after couple hours of playing it started to crash. First, didn't mind and just went back playing. Well, then it started to crash again and again, and always sooner than the previous one. (20mins - 10mins - 5mins etc.) So I'm taking some break and will see later does it still make it.

Check which version of SA:MP you are running.
Also make sure there is no software running that causes popup messages.

SA-MP is the latest ones. And only programs I'm running at the same time are Fraps and EVEREST. (for temps) And neiter one of them should cause any popups.
