Title: PC Gameplay: Argonath TeamSpeak Server
Post by: Kaltsu on August 26, 2006, 06:57:24 pm: Have you ever been a cop? Has your chase got ruined, because you started to write something to chat and next thing you see that your car is all wrecked or you find yourself in water :redface:?

I wonder why you guys don't set up an Argonath TeamSpeak server. It would be really helpful especially for cops, who need to work as a team to arrest the most dangerous criminals. It would make the chases much easier, because there no longer wouldn't be need to write so much to chat while driving. So there would be a kind of police radio. Also, of course TS would be available for other citizens, but cops would have their own channel.

For those, who haven't ever even heard about TeamSpeak:
TS is a voice client (voice chat) to be used with different games. In TS several players can talk to each other at the same time. TS is a very light program, so it's not a problem to run TS in the background when playing, even with older computers.

Oh, and if you don't own a microphone, it's still not a problem. If you're a cop for example, you can join the TS cop channel as "listen only" -player and that way you can listen to the tactics and plans that other cops are talking.

I will ask Sauron about it as he has to decide about the server load of a Teamspeak server

Anyway for cops it would help if some would understand that the object of taming is not to run all after a criminal the same way, but try to go around and meat them from the other side. If one or two cops are on foot, the others can be standby in a car in case the criminal finds one and gets away. Also blocking might help (if you block the criminal and not the cops foolowing).

Exactly, I think TeamSpeak would make tactics and planning much easier so it would be possible to catch the criminals much easier with good tactics.

I could be able to host TS server for testing purpose (so we can see how it really works with MTA), when I will get my new router (the current one sucks). So then there would be TS available, when I am online.

Btw, you see who is online in TS by this link too (sometimes it seems to bug so that u don't see anybody on server :P):

You should try. After listening to us for couple of mins, you're gonna be as stupid too :o ;D

Seriously, based on my experience, TeamSpeak is a really helpful tool especially for cops, because there's no need to write so much during chases, you can report new criminal to others and you can get the answers to your questions fast etc.

I suggest that even cops with no microphone should download TeamSpeak and join the police radio, because police work will be much easier to them also when they can hear the reports from other cops. If they're asked a question or they have something to say, they can simply write it into MTA chat.

Yeah thanks. Nice to hear that the job getting a TS channel was worth it :).

The biggest problem with the current TS system is, that we can't handle player registerations (we always have to wait the server admin to make players able to register) and we can't handle bans, since we are only channel admins, not server admins. I just wonder if Argonath will get it's own TeamSpeak server someday :roll:...

Cool!!! We hope to see you all there, even if you have no mic, it's still better to know what is going on!!

IMPORTANT : When you are a cop on the TS channel, and you wish to make a transmission, you must:

1) Get your "unit number" (In-Game ID Number)

2) Announce the unit you wish to contact, followed by your own unit, or if you want to contact Central Control, use "control".
[e.g. : "Control from unit 1-4" , or "Unit 1-8 from Unit 3".]

3) Make sure that you wait after you have said this, and wait for response of confirmation from the unit you are trying to reach.
[e.g : "Go ahead Unit 1-4", or "Go ahead Unit 3".]

4) Make your report, followed by "over".

Please note : when you are a unit of double figure number [e.g : 10 or 19], please say 1-0 or 1-9 (One-Zero or One-Niner")
("Niner" is important to differentiate, and understand the number of the unit, as is splitting it up into 2 numbers.)

There are too little admins regulating on the MTA server to help teach and guide these new guys. We need a timetable and such or more organization.. Ever since Sa-Mp opened up all the good players left and its been guys like me, ber, and watti trying to handle it all... we need more organization and help...

I got registered, but still don't have a mic :(
And they won't let me use sound boards to comunicate. :(

In case clans need private channel for an event, why not use own teamspeak server for the event?

This might be possible in future, but not now. I have been thinking about the same idea also, but the problem is that in TS2 it is not possible to make passworded subchannels.

So basically you won't see this idea on Argonath RPG TeamSpeak server until TeamSpeak 3 gets released.

You can get the right from any server admin online. They have SA in the end of their name.

I got so pissed of i just played something really annoying and it shut him up, but yeah the annoyign people need to get real and go annoy people on another TS Server.

You haven't registered with the TeamSpeak server yet. Only registered players are able to switch channels.
Ask a TeamSpeak SA to guide you through the registration.
