Some of you might have heard a "program" called Software Distribution Service. It came familiar to me because when my PC gets update of it for now like twice on his week, it also makes my SAMP crash. Not immideatly, but after it got with a update to my PC I started to crash several times more in SAMP, around twice in 5-10 minutes. This is now kinda annoying because I can't join "long-lasting" events because I always crash in 5-10 minutes after the next crash. Everything were better without this update.
Now comes the werid part.. I don't know how this "update" have got into my computer. Because I have turned all the Windows XP's automatic updates off, so they never install updates again. I've also made several System Restores but on the next day it have got back to my PC. :( I also found alot discussion about this with Google, but none of them had anything to do with SAMP. Now I'm asking you for this, do anyone know how to get rid of it? :(

Try going in the control panel, go to add and remove programs, check the box saying "Show updates" and find Software Distribution Service, and click uninstall.
-
There is no such update listed..

hey,
i just had a computer here with service distribution 3.0
its also known as the Service pack.. The most common, however is Service Pack 2.
You can set your computer back to SP2 (service pack 2) by doing system restore, check the date, and look after the event 'installed Service Distribution pack 3.0 ' or something relevant. When you found this event, go one day before that event, or more days and complete the system restore.
I saw you already tried a System Restore, So make sure, you pick the right date, you can check your version of Windows by right clicking on the 'my computer' icon, and click properties. Then you get a little summary of your computer, including the service pack version u have, u can also check this in Safe mode, but i think thats not really needed.
Good Luck mate ;)

I have SP2, but it always shows in System Restoration that it have installed that program or update or w/e. And it crashes my samp all the time. :(
-
well, just do the system restoration and excecute one day before you installed, all traces about it will be deleted.
-
As I said what happened earlier when I tried that. I did system restore, left pc (turned off) and on the next day it had been installed automaticly again. :hit:

Turn automatic updates off in the control panel?
-
I had ages ago.. also a tip for you. TUrning them from there wont turn them off completely. You need to go Propeties of your Own Computer and then to somewhere else I cant remember where you can turn them completely off.
-
yup i know
just go to computer > properties > Automatic updates > Turn them off completely
My configuration stands on 'download updates for me, but let me choose when i install them' and i never have mess with the SP3.

No I didn't ment those, Clyde. You cannot get them off from there, always when you restart your computer they are on again. I ment like this video shows: [yt=425,350]http://www.metacafe.com/watch/310532/stop_automatic_updates_forever/[/yt]

Well, normally it shouldnt take all that way to disable them, at least i learned some new thing..
Is your problem solved now or you still having problems?
-
I still crash a bit too often in my opinion, but now it's random.. we'll see later if it gets too... ;)
