This problem has happened to many people around the world, caused by a corrupt update by AVG 8.0 Free License Edition.
Your computer is unable to boot up due a file got deleted by AVG.
How to fix this?
You can easily fix it in 2 ways :
- You have a Live CD, wich allows you to boot up from CD / RAM
- You can connect the Hdd to another PC ..
METHOD 1
- If you have a LiveCD (if you don't have one, just google it when you got a secondary PC ) you are able to boot up a windows XP wich doesnt makes use of your HDD.
- When you are into the windows, go to your HDD (C: ) and go to following path :
C:/Windows/System32/drivercache
- In this folder you can find a DLL file named user32.dll, copy it and paste it in the following path.
C:/Windows/System32
- Shutdown, Get the CD out of the tray and reboot.
- Your OS should boot properly
METHOD 2
- Take your HDD out of the Computer its currently in.
- If you have a USB to IDE/SATA Bridge, you can connect your HDD (with some extra power supply connector ) to another PC.
- When your computer detects the other HDD, go to it, click on the windows, go to the following path :
C:/Windows/System32/drivercache
- In this folder you can find a DLL file named user32.dll, copy it and paste it in the following path.
C:/Windows/System32
- Shut down, disconnect the HDD and put it back in the computer it came from.
- Windows should start up properly.
