Title: SA:MP Usage of /report - Warning: Mod Usage
Post by: Gandalf on November 13, 2008, 06:34:40 pm
Usage of /report

All players will know the /report function, but there are some returning remarks and questions that seem to pop up.

1. I reported but admins did not punish / do nothing.

While we have many trustworthy players, false reports do happen. There for admins have instructions not to act unless they can confirm the report. It means that reports about DM, ramming and carjacking will not always be punished directly.
At some times there are 90 players and 4 admins. That means admins have to make a choice in their work. In such times it is possible that they miss a report. Also admins can handle situations by talking to the reported player. In that case you might not see the punishment. Just because you do not see a result does not mean there was no reaction.

2. I reported 5 times and I get a warning ???

If you report one incident 5 times, you are spamming admin chat.

3. I reported the guy who jacked me after 5 minutes and get a warning ?

When admins see a report they spectate the players. If someone is far away, the report is seen as false report.

4. I tell that sometimes report gets no reaction and I get kicked/warned ???
More than half of the admin work is done on reports. If players see people complain that reports do not work, they might not use it when they should. If admins do not get reports, people will start complain admins are not active in handling situations. Admins are not psychic and can not see all players at the same time.
If we allow complaints on reports not working, the result can be that rule breakers get a lot of chances, and the quality of the server goes down.
We see it as our duty to protect the server from those who like to disturb it by complaining.

Warning: Mod Usage

In the unban topics we have recently found a number of people that have car mods installed, many of them use SAMI (San Andreas Mod Installer).

Please note that it is allowed to use mods only on the condition that they do not change anything in the handling of SA:MP.
SAMI has the ability to change the handling and properties of cars and other objects, but do not use these under any circumstances.

Changed handling will look to other players as using cheats, and you will be banned for that, the ban will be justified and fair.

If you use a modded SAMP, be very sure that the mods influence appearance only and not anything else.
When you doubt, remove the mods.

If you want to use a modded SAMP for single playr or special things like movies, make a clean installation without mods to play normal and use the modded only on special servers like a movie server.

I will just tell players if they only gonna install cars/weapons to use GGMM.
Thats a easy way to install cars without changing handling

Does this same rule apply for MTA:VC?, Cause one time I changed the car, but not the handaling on vice city. ;)

If you're gonna install a vehicle with SAMI, simply delete the readme file and make sure theres only .dff's and txt's in the folder/zip file (or w/e) then SAMI will use the default handling line

Helpme file

If you instal it with sami, just Don`t fill in the Handling line at the same, then he will do a Custom one, so it wont change.

If you instal without sami, just don`t add the handling.

 :)

Handling lines, or anything like that except the surface.cfg cannot be edited (Though, I'm sure carmods.dat does too) as they're hardcoded into SA:MP.
If you use a program such as <Enter name here> (A hack.) that can import its own custom files, then yes, you can do as you wish, because I do it on another server (If you're curious, it's for drifting, not flying or super speed.).

The only thing with mods (Specifically car mods) you'll have to worry about is the person who makes the PD rancher (a 2 door) into a 4 door. And yes, it does work, if you have a 4 door car, that's originally a 2 door, you can use all 4 seats. (And if you have a 20 seat car, 20 people with the same mod can use all 20 seats.)

Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: Gandalf on November 14, 2008, 07:10:53 pm
Lets make it clear that the original rule of the SA:MP team was no mods, no matter what they are or do.
As it is impossible to control visual mods without looking inside the users computer, we do not disallow them, however if a mod gets you banned its not the fault of the admins who saw something strange, but its yours. We still prefer a clean install to play SA:MP, but if you do want to change the appearance be sure not to change any handling properties.

The point is that car mods make car faster and admins can take it as speed hacks. Understood?

I want to say 1thing. Every day I se 3 cops in 1 PD Rancher. That means someone have a car mod for PD Rancher to example Hummer with 4doors. that means you can sit in backseat in 2door PD Rancher.
Everyone who have modded their 2door cars to 4door cars should remove the mods. I se this as abuse  :trust:

You can simply just delete the ReadMe file that contains the handling lines and stuff.. and then SAMI won't be able to detect the handling KEEPING it at default.. no need to even use IMG tool.

Someone mentioned on the server the other day a mod which allows you to take restricted cars into a Transfender or Pay 'n' Spray (such as police cars)

Just to let you all know, using a mod like this counts as HACKING! DO NOT USE IT!

As far as I know, nobody has been caught with this mod yet...but we need to be cautious as people know about it!

yeah its a rule not to use mods. but with my expirience SAMI cant change the handling when you're on SAMP. Trust me, i remember i changed sometime the comet with a ferrari F50 and at single player you entered the F50 normal (open door-close door).
at SAMP, it was different. he just jumped over the door, just like the Real comet. Trust me, on SAMP modded handlings dont work. But i wont use mods, especially when i use them in SAMP cause the crash the game ALL the times...

Notice this as I am not taking any sides or anything but I wish to comment on that, would you not dislike it if you thought no actions was taken ? I know many people including me sometimes, takes admins for granted as we do not know really what you guys are doing. I understand both sides, I would be angry if I knew no actions was taken or if I did not see visual actions taken, but as I know what it is to be an admin I just report once and leave the "rulebreaker" to the admins.

If I would look from eyes of a player, players business should be: Saw rulebreaker - report. As you report - you forget him, as he administrators business as they were informed about a guy who rulebreaks ;)
Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: Jaaskaa on March 27, 2009, 02:09:23 am
I'd like to add :

- I flamed/attacked a rulebreaker, why did I got punished instead of him ?

Herrr.... Is that a real question or are you just joking ? ... If you rulebreak, even against a rulebreaker, you are not worth much better than him.

- I spotted a rulebreak, I got screenshots, I reported omg omg omg !!!!

That ain't a question. First, contact an admin and ask if something was done about your report against X player ... Be polite when doing so because nothing force the admin to answer you if you ain't polite. If not, you can send your screenshots at [email protected]

- There is no admin on and I need to report someone ! HOW ?

A few easy things you could do : 1- Do /time, /admins and take a screenshot. 2- Come on forum as soon as possible and check who is online. If you see a SAMP admin, send him a forum PM, he might see it straight away. (I said 1, not 20 pm!!!) 3- Go back in-game and do like nothing happened.  4- If after 5 minutes no admin came, log off again and send screenshots to [email protected]

- An admin just connected, there is a hacker on OMG !!! Check ! He hacks !!!

Stop screaming for foot love ... If an admin came on, it is usualy because someone called him on msn. You may still want to report, do it using the /report id reason   .... Screaming over main chat will scare off the hacker, who will disconnect and come back another day... And admin will be annoyed and will hate you for a long while...

So, if you see a hacker/rulebreaker/fake pancake eater : /report id reason   1 time ... Not 20... Do not : Yell over main chat, counter attack verbally or by any other way or use cheat programs to fight a hacker.  Doing so will get you punished.
Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: Bianconeri on March 27, 2009, 11:57:15 am
i agree, screaming on mainchat HACKER!!!! omG!!!!! BAN!!!!
wont help to get him busted, just stay quiet and /report,
admins will deal with it,

and if you think logic about it,
when you report for carjacking the chance is very very small that an admin
actually see it, since the rulebreaker is already gone,
you see lots of players complain about not responding to reports,
thats exactly why i applied to help the team,

admins or humans, and they need evidence, and not just the word of someone against anothers word

Administrators are neutral in their punishments, but as they become a players, they may not want to see you in their eyes. They will help you as an admin, but will not help you as a player :) I think Jaaskaa ment that.
Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: Jaaskaa on March 27, 2009, 09:55:52 pm
Neutrality is not affected by feelings. But players who scream OMG HACK HACK!! Will probably be punished, especialy if the hacker leave ... And in the admin head, it will be a ``Gosh, this player did put server at risk ...If he scream again like a f... I will probably banana him`` ... And since admins are humans, you cannot control their thoughts ... So yes, an admin  can hate someone. But he shall not let it show.

Smey, did you know that people answering here are not computers made for your own satisfaction ? Yes ? Good .... We are humans, we can like and hate too, that is totaly normal. A good admin is someone who make his job without taking those facts into consideration. But this does not refrain us from hating or liking someone.
Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: smey on March 28, 2009, 08:24:38 am
That was not my point when I replied.

Your "will hate you for a long while.." sounded to me that if you screw up something (like you said, by for example shouting in mainchat), that that specific admin will start to ignore your reports.

I'm not saying you guys should be machines, but you should hide feelings which prefer or hate a specific player. Of course, their are limits (like the JK47 thing).
Title: Re: WARNING! BE CAREFUL WITH MODS
Post by: Jaaskaa on April 06, 2009, 12:36:23 am
This mean more of a : Admins will not forget you but not positively. In other words, they will remember your action and will be reactive if it happen again. Ex : Admin log on, you scream at hacker like a person at agony and hacker log off.  Another hacker log on, you see him and begin to yell ... This time, admin may banana or warn you (By pm or command).

What I mean by admin will hate you is :admin have a memory. Someone who will repeatadly but server into a dangerous situation or who will give trouble to admins in making their job will be told and this might be done in a rude way (I do not mean with flaming but the message will be clear, as for example a nice banana or a warn).

So think before yelling, it takes about 16 seconds between a hacker being spotted and comfirmed as hacker by an admin and the ban.

Reporting 20 times and yelling over main chat and doing like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbcctWbC8Q0&NR=1

Well, that won't help.

In global, that is the meaning of the whole stuff : Stay cool, be patient, use report once and wait.

Yes, I've emailed [email protected]

RI and it's subsidaries were sorting a Cems member out with an incident in RIo. Alot of Cems came and they started shooting, We only told that Cems member to keep away from RIo. This was regarded DM, an admin kicked custom_Cems. I was shot (And in a RP incident I had 3 gun wounds to my legs and 2 to my Stomach).

I entered the car back seat lieing bleeding, I thought nothing then. RI Members dropped each other off at RIo and the pain started, They took me to the hospital. As soon as I entered the back seat [AV]FlameMan suspected me for aiding and (I think) Antoni.

I /report'ed him as you allways do for cop abusers, he /warn'ed me for /report abuse. I then /report'ed him for admin abuse and Mumins kicked him for [email protected]. Later she kicked me for the same reason.

I have several witnesses, most were RIw so you may wish to contact them.

In this case, I've reported someone for cop abuse. But as it was an admin he /warned me. Is this allowed?

when you /report someone it make takes some time until an admin responds
but i think its the best to do and dont rulebreak yourself

Report: sorry to say this but report it's useless!   I reported rulebreakers million times but no ONE gets a warning!

Today i've been abused for a cop! And no one does anything about instead of it, they warn me to calm down. This is more like calm down i'm not here for baby sitting if you have problems resolve them! You should be more carefull recruiting admins or something!! I allready had problems along time with AV Vince, he DM'ed me, but i was the one punished tempban for false acusations  OMG    but whatever i'm tired of being abused and no one does nothing about it! A freecop kill me stantind still !! he gets no warn, and I pissed of called him noob, and i get a warn .. realy funny. In opinions most of admins want to be admin because, if someone abuses him he gets punished right away, but to help others is this..

Well, believe me when I say I've been in the same experience MANY, MANY times. You will soon learn that it is somewhere your own fault. You could've acted better in that situation, and you would not be pissed off at the moment.

If you're abused the best thing to do by far is to PM an admin. Screaming on main chat will get you no where.

If you have a problem against [AV]Vince - [email protected] - make a report against him with screenshots(etc) if you feel he abused you. Your report will be dealt with accordingly.

Not going to read everything.
But what I get from your story at the begin of your post, is that you want every /report to be answered with a /warn.
I can tell you - put that out of your mind as that is never gonna happen.

Admins get report, we investigate it, and we do what is needed at that moment and that can be:
- Eject someone from his car.
- Freeze the player to avoid further DM or other rulebreaking
- Checking his weapons/statistics for hacks etc...
- Banana them to avoid further flame/flood etc.
- Give them a warning in PM or a special admin pm.

And if really needed:
- warn
- kick
- tempban
- ban

Admins targets are not to use their warn, kick, tempban and ban commands.
We are trying to solve some problems without using one of the commands - and you need them often but you can also fix it without them.

Most of the /reports will be solved by the first part of the explaination.
And most of them are not visible for public, maybe just the personal warning in local chat or you see he is frozen.

And yes - do you want us to tell you we are on him, so a lot of our time to get the server clean from rulebreakers get spend on that?.
I guess you are wrong then - we are doing a lot of work just to keep the server cool for you guys (player of this community) and also a little bit for ourself.

And if you think any admins is 'abusive' - please don't moan in public chat or forums or elsewhere... write your complain to the community email [email protected]

This is my honest opinion how I think about it, yes and my opinion changed when I became admin yes.

If you use /report: We get a message.

YOU don't see what we doing on that moment.
The 'punishment' can be invisible (Like a PM), or can be done later (ex. after investigate).

So YES, the /report IS working  ;)

You don't choose punishments...

Personally, I dislike thoose players, who complains for not punishing... We are warning unofficially too, not only via commands :)

Very rarely admins say "I am on it", But I prefer it if all say that.

Very rarely admins say "I am on it", But I prefer it if all say that.

When the server is flooded with player, its hard to type that or do the special cmd for admin that saying ''admin is reacting on your report''.

So, when you did your report, that means you already did your job and you dont need to

''why no admin asnwer my report??''
'' look fast look fast!!'' and spamming like 3 times on pm -.-
''are admins sleeping?? i reported a player already omg.. ''

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Stuff that mostly guys type above here will just making our chat flooded and it's hard to investigate and catching up the report log...

If you use a modded SAMP, be very sure that the mods influence appearance only and not anything else. When you doubt, remove the mods.

yea had one for a gun, talked to Pancher, he said better to remove, so I did. Some of mods are making the samp better, but I hate car mods, it makes gta suck becuase you don't see the reality they made. i got just light mod and thats seems kinda cool.

about reports..yea, i've heard that admins are watching the persone you reported for a few minutes, and if rulebreaking repeats they warn/kick. and i kinda appriciate it, because of many abuses in /report.

yea about the mods i've tried some modded Ambulances trust me their handling was like OMG they just flipped around on every corner and i saw one guy doing the same some days ago but unfournietly the admins was abit slow and he did /q :< but you really have to watch the mods before you use them.

and about the /report thing i clearly understand that heard some things from velux side it can be abit stressful with reports, spamming in all kinds of chats ^^, but admins are doing a good job keep it up ;)
