Title: AGP or Pci-E?
Post by: Wayne on December 17, 2008, 02:40:03 am
Just wanna know who's better..
Well AGP is cheaper..
Pci-E is expensive.. but who's better?
Which one is buyable?
Well with AGP i can buy a 1GB card.. with Pci-E i can buy at least 512mb..

I think PCI-E is better... Don't know about it too much but that's the one I use, I have a 9600GT 1GB.

There is a true proof of thats pci-e is better? =S

The busspeed of PCI-e is higher then AGP, but:

1. Your motherboard only has one of the two connections, newer motherboards have PCI-e
2. Not all bandwidth of the PCI-e bus will be used
3. The graphics card (chip) is the most important if you look at 'what's the best'

Because all new computers have PCI-e, mostly PCI-e cards are being made. Therefore I doubt that AGP cards are cheaper. Or they are cheaper because the chip is crappy.

Old PC-s have AGP... and new PC-s have PCI-e ...so they have two different sockets..
You must check what kinda graphiccard you have. If AGP , then u can buy online AGP ...and with PCI-e its same way...

Ummm ..  ;)

Yep Carbon has right... PCI e are the new graphics card that needs your motherboard to support PCI e socket... Oldest motherboards got AGP socket..so older= worse

PCI-E

why? AGP is dying its hard to find good gpu with AGP, thats ehy

hmm.. pci-e is "bigger, better, faster and stronger"  :D

- is more expandable (current machines only use 16 lanes, or 2 8 lane distrobutions for CrossFire or SLi, while PCI-e can support up to 32 lanes, and 2 16 lane configurations (or 4 8 lane, or any other possibility)
- provides more bandwidth to the graphics card (interface bandwidth) which means demanding games like Doom 3 (which utilizes full AGP 8x (only game to ever do such) get a few % more performance on PCI-e over AGP, as their not hitting the ceiling of interface bandwidth

Well.. PCI - E Is the better one of the two. It's not Personal Opinion.. PCI -E Is just newer than AGP, so speeds are generally faster...
AGP Is not much avaible anymore.

If you need a good AGP Card, your best choice is in my opinion the AH3650 ..
