Title: GTA IV Problem
Post by: Juraj_horvath on December 30, 2008, 11:53:16 pm
Okay im posting this because i have a very strange problem. I installed GTA IV started it and it says that i have enough memory to run the game on medium details (draw distance 30 medium textures resolution 1280x1024 well highest Renderer details) everything should run just fine, the memory usage down at bottom of option window is green, everything should run just fine BUT it just wont i get these anoying laggs when i play no matter if i set it to 1024x800 low textures, medium renderer, basically i have 200mb of free memory and it still LAGGZ! I saw people on internet that have these problems too! They have recomended settings and their game just goes slow. When i try to play multiplayer it kicks me and a nice window pops up saying "Your computer is running too slow." The computer sets the details by itself on the medium and this continues to lagg. Jesus Crist i nearly tried everything: I reinstalled Vista, reinstalled drivers, even the GTA, still the same problem. I get the coolest game for christmas and now its ruined :( .

My computer:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1, Direct x 10, G Force 8600MGT 512mb DDR2, Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHZ T7250, 114 GB of free space of C drive. I installed the patch that they released for GTA IV, still no help, Left 4 Dead, SA-MP, WOW, run just fine

I hope we can find the solution
Thx

theres actually no software problem which i can see.,,,

your problem is actually your CPU,, Intel Core Duo 2Ghz.. you need atleast a Intel COre 2 Duo 2.4Ghz...

my current system is a Intel Core 2 Duo 3Ghz Overclocked to a 3.5Ghz
with a XFX Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512mb GDDR3
and 2Gb Ram DDR2-800.. and i can just manage to run it on full graphics,

your problem is the CPU cant handle all the details and rendering within the game its self... the only option is to play on lowest graphics or buy a new, more powerfull CPU since the recomended is a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Quad...

If it's a relative new one processor, 2006-2008 one, I suggest to try "adjust" it. I did...I had 1,5 GHz, I 'adjusted' it to 2,0.

Intel Core Duo 2.0 GHZ T7250,

the T7250 is a relitively old model of CPUs' by Intel. a newer model would give a higher persormance making your game run better...
and since its a laptop which you have as i see.. you should rather get a Tower System...  ;)

Lowering the resolution may help working your PC better.

I have a Pentium 4, and GTA IV works great on Single Player, multiplayer I get kicked. :(

Your problem is your CPU and GPU, they both dont are good enough. I know that they should work, but actually the IV "eats" more power than actually they have released as system requirements, so you need to overclock your processor AND your GPU to run the game about 30 fps, if not, you need better computer.

I overclocked GPU but i didnt overclock CPU, anyway MadBoi says that CPU is wrong you say both are wrong. Anyway im gonna try that with BIOS and see what happens

Overclocking can make your GPU unworkable.

Honestly I think if you OC (overclock) your laptop CPU from 2.0Ghz to 2.5Ghz and you don't have any experience of it from before.. you might just fry your laptop. As we all know laptop coolers aren't so good.. and they get pritty hot already at normal.

Did anyone even care to tell him he might kill his computer by over-clocking?

LISTEN TO ME

the whole laptop, CPU type, Graphics card model are NOT supported by GTA IV and the Chipsets are also not supported,,
Overclocking will just damage your laptop and never actually help because GTA IV can not support the type of hardware youre trying to run it on...

1 simple answer: DO NOT! Install HUGE games onto simple machines as Laptops! It only causes problems! Believe me. Buy a good and fast stationary PC and install and play your (huge, ex GTA IV 15 GB) games there instead.  ;)
