Same on MTA:SA and SA:MP,

when i go ingame my screen goes very very dark and i can just about see the game.. but my desktop is bright?

You can change the britness level in the options menu

tried all ingame options, and none of them change anything for me.

try removing gta_sa.set from my docs then running game

Was just writing it :P But cDa was faster :P
Yeah it should help, otherwise its your graphic card or drivers problem :)

Can mods effect it because i tried what cDa said it just made my screen smaller.

Or try getting the newest driver for your graphic card, if you don't have it already.

Maybe you can give us a screenshot?
