Does it overheat/fan gets very loud just before it switches off?
-
Are you using it on soft platform, if yes, the fan maybe cant take fresh air and you are making it one "hot box" and it becomes too hot so its auto shutdowns itself to prevent damage.
-
Maybe the power management system got decalibrated...
AFAIK it happens when you recharge the battery in short stops and when it's not almost discharged (don't recharge a full or half-full battery).
-
try to lift it a bit off table (insert 4 brackets under corners) to see will airflow help it, mayube its restarting due heat...
-
if its yes Ghost, what can be happen?

my laptop is just on my desk, but the fan is at the back of it not the bottom but normally on my desk there is a big subwoofer right on it..maybe thats the problem, right now im using it on carpet in the computer room. maybe this will help i dno...i have had it for 4 years so...maybe its time for a new battery, ive never changed it

Something is causing it to overheat, so make sure you have enough room for ventilation, use your laptop on a hard surface and you could try what cDa suggested. Otherwise it could be something like dust clogging the vents.

clean the fans, heatsink, vacuum the comp, or maybe you can build this :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSZ0qfY2Vf0
