I'm pissed.... My motherboard fried after I installed a new heat sink for my processor... Turns out, the 4-spoke wire that extends the 20-spoke wire to 24-spokes came out when I was moving wires to unblock the air flow. I plugged the computer in and smoke came out of it, a little chip under the RAM went on fire and now I got a fried mobo... I'm PISSED!
It's the light spot in the middle of the chip:

I may not be able to play for a little while... :(

Now you know what can happen if you overclock computers without enough technical knowledge
It is like tuning a car..... if you do it yourself expect the engine to go 'BOOM' if you go too far.

>< Some motherboards aint too fond of overclocking either, such as my MSI 7030, the bios sucks for overclocking :p

I don't get why the date on pics is 2005 ... ??? >>>
-
Actually, I wasn't overclocking it at all. The wire just came out and wen I turned it on... All I hear is a hissing sound and theres melting plastic in the middle of that chip and there was smoke... Why would it fry just because I didn't connect a wire? I would imagine it just not working...
It's that date because I didn't set the date on my camera.

Damn, that happened to me to recently.. but it was only the powersupply that fried. Anyway I got out and got myself a new computer.. but there seems to be some issues with the gfxcard on this one instead. :/ And because it is integrated in the motherboard I may have to send it away or just get a new one again (i'm lazy :) )
-
Ouch, tough luck
-
Should I just return this? Or am I SOL and now have to get a new mobo?

You probably voided your warrenty when you installed the new heatsink, looks like you'll be buying...

Damn, bad luck man :hit:.
About the pictures...
They are very blurry. Try using the "macro" -feature of your camera ;).

Good news. They accepted the motherboard! :D
They sent it out the 11th and it says it should be here on the 21st... 10 day shipping, LOL!
Also, it turns out the PSU was bad. That's why the motherboard fried. So, I decided that I wanted a better PSU. So, I'm getting this: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=316505
And the good thing is, 2-day shipping is only $1.99!!!!!! Hopefully it works fine...

PSU has been ordered. Gotta wait 'till Tuesday/Wednesday for it to arrive...

It has arrived! And it's running GREAT!
I'm starting to overclock now, and already have the CPU overclocked from 1.86GHz, to 2.158GHz. And the RAM overclocked from 800MHz, to 950MHz! :D
This thing is a MONSTER!
Only thing I need to do now is get my GPU and RAM cooled down...

How can you over clock btw
-
Through BIOS.

Through BIOS.
Congrats! :)
Try not to fry it again... :cop:
