Argonath RPG - A World of its own

As most of you might be aware, there has been a lot of arguing and flaming occuring in our community (forums especially) rescently.
This is the reason I decided to create this topic. It is easy, I will explain you how it works with a couple of lines:
Since ArgonathRPG is the server and the COMMUNITY is the players themself, the community is based on respect and understanding between players and especially between players and the more "special" players - administration. In this topic you can TELL YOUR OWN OPINION about what is going on in the community and why it is caused. Furthermore, you should give us (only if possible) a suggestion of how the problem you pointed out could be fixed. Every player (admin or not, banned or not, does not matter) could share his opinion here and no exceptions.
I hope players can understand that when Aragorn and Gandalf are away and with Legolas resigned, the server developers themself are with almost tied hands. We are not allowed to feel as the server is ours, because there could be many things that Gandalf or/and Aragorn could disagree with and we are "putting our ass on the table" just so the players could feel better in the server.
The rules for this topic are simple, NO ARGUING WITH OTHER PLAYERS' SUGGESTIONS OR SOLUTIONS. This would only lead nowhere and this is not the point here, is it? Admins are allowed to post suggestions same as players, however, they are not allowed to argue and place doubts in the players' solutions.
Please, remember nobody promises that anything could be done. The most serious problems and the best solutions given here by players shall be discussed among developers and we shall do our best.
Thank you.
With kind regards, Legend.

Reduce the size of the general administration team/ Have skilled and experienced admins who know what they're job is and how to carry it out efficently

I have a question: What happened with Elrond([R*]Kojak i think)?

I see the solution there, but I think your post lacks the problem. Also, please refer to the server you are talking about or it is in general about all servers?
Thanks.

He went inactive for a big period of time, I think it was either have personal difficulties or being sent somewhere, do not remember well. I am sure you would find the explanation if you loop trought his last posts at his profile.

Generally all servers. But SA:MP mainly. A single admin should be able to handle what 10-20 people qithout trouble? I've had to handle 50-60 on my own but with other admins idling. A few other admins have had to handle a large amount of players on their own.

Elrond went on a 6 months business trip

uh dont know about all servers and the admin team but i do think samp has tomuch admins as you say... but mta:sa where i am active there is just the right amount of admins there is almost always one admin on sometimes more but it aint like so that there are more admins on then players or something and what you said about 10-20 players p/admin then mta:sa would have just 1 admin or 2 cause there aint so much players on mta:sa yet and most of the time there are allot of new players that need help and want that fast not have to wait for it half an hour until everyone is helped if it should be done by one admin...
so about admin thing it must be like this: a normal amount of admins that should be like 1/2 admins on a full server the rest of the admins has the rights and stuff but let the 1/2 admins controll the situations of dming etc and when they are busy the other admins on the server should help on request in admin chat and also they do some admin work when its happining right infront of their noses...
about the banning/kicking/warning that some admins are doing (i hear on forum) for stupid reasons is just ****** admins always ban/kick/warn for a reason it may not be proper one but that must be thought to the admins that doesnt know what proper reasons are one example:
2 players rping and flaming all the time in main chat instaid of just warning them and they get pissed the admin just go to the people and talks to them in local chat to ask them to talk in local chat its just that simple
my solution on the problem is this:
i dont have any solutions cause i dont really know what is really happining in the samp server ( yes the samp server is the server where the most trouble is even i know that cause i read the forums) so if someone could explain to me what is really going on why everyone i arguing with each other then i can try to help finding a solution.
and ps. its good of legend that he made this topic and i hope we can get a solution

Problem: Well one problem I see, is the unspecific accusations. I mean players complain a lot about admins, though they don't even say who. All the answer what they usually get is - "Send a e-mail to ...." but really people like to have some information also, how far are the community leaders with the investigation. So, I say the players have become more apart from the community leaders then they used to be.
Solution: Ok, people if you don't want to send a formal complain to an e-mail because you don't trust it and you see no progress, send Personal Message to community Leaders in forum. And Community Leaders, give feedback.
Communication, communication and more communication is the keyword between players and administration.

I was hoping you would post here, people should read this.
Very good solution and a real problem, thanks!

Problem: ARPD's main page on the website's new section is heavily out-of-date, and I've attempted a few times to have the issue resolved.
Solution: ARPD webmasters need to be assigned, and the news section should be relinked to a specific area of the ARPD forums so news can be displayed according to what is posted there, and all high-ranking officials of ARPD should have access rights to creating topics in that specific area of the ARPD forums. This allows for the news to stay up-to-date, and it also allows all qualified officials to make informational posts based on what their rank should already be allowing them to do.
(On a side note, thank you Legend for creating this topic. This is exactly what I had in mind when I made my first few posts in that other topic. :cop: )

Problem: MTA:VC has a serious lack of users and administration right now.
Solution: Host some kind of event to get people on MTA:VC, and try to encourage them to start becoming more active again. As for administration, go through the current administration and relieve those from their duties that can no longer hold them, and set up interviews with possible administration members that are experienced and highly-qualified for the job. Make sure they are active and promote the server the best they can.

Kaltsu is the only ARPD website administrator as soon as I know, I shall contact him A.S.A.P. and see what we could do.
Thanks for the suggestions given, I like them, keep up guys!

VC has enough admins, although alot of them idle quite a bit.

This is why I made the Olympics idea, I'm going to discuss it with MIB.

There are more admins then players. There are wayyyy too many events from when I was there, not sure if it's changed now, but there were too many events IMO. You should remember, that it's Argonath RPG, not Argonath Events + Freeroam

MTA has changed since you were there. There are a close to 0 players ingame at a time. Events are a good way of attracting people i.e the Saturday night weekly lotto draw :D and the VC marthons. There was alos the DD and Grand Prix, but those were very recent.

I'm aware of this problem but there is some problem with my ARPD Joomla! -account, which cannot be solved without the help of Gandalf or somebody. However I won't be able take a look into it at least until February 24th since I'm on a holiday trip at the moment.

Problem: Post hunting on "Rate" Topics and forum games.
Solution: We should make a child board, and put all rating topics and forum games in there. It doesn't count when you post there, so we would not have those post hunters :D

I don't know if it's possible, but I support the idea of separating all forum games into a child board. That way all forum game haters will have an easy time on avoiding those threads.

@9r2e5i3k: Yes, it's possible. I believe it can only be done through the administration control panel though. When they say setting up a child board that doesn't hold a post count when posting in there, that is basically setting up another section similar to the "Speakerbox" one that is set to not count posts towards the users' total post counts. I'm not sure how simple or complex this board software is, but I know many other board systems allow this in their settings.

All the VC admins are experienced and very good at their job. There is not a "serious lack". the only time there is a lack of admins depends on what time zone you are in. Most admins are on during the day and night ( CET ) But not early morning.
-
Alot of them idle though. In VC, I remember there being a rule for admins that they cannot be logged in as "admins" while idle or AFK and logged into the server. I also know that there is a list of quite a few admins that have been inactive for quite some time. I used to be on the list due to IRL issues and that's why I was forced to retire. I'm not the only one though.
By the way, I'm not saying the admins are bad, I'm just saying that quite a few of them are inactive.

That wasn't a rule, that was to let them have some rest without being bothered. Also a tactic to catch out hackers and cheaters etc.
You're not the only inactive admin. I quit and was dismissed from the team due to a months inactivity with no news after my unban when my full rights got restored. I now what list you're talking about :D
-
According to MIB though it was a rule for admins during the time I was a MTA:VC admin. It may have changed since then though. I can't confirm that due to my current situation lol...
I do remember you being an adminstrator though. Fun times...fun times...

It is possible, its dead easy. And yeh I agree. ;)

Its possible, but we like our post count :D
I hav no problem if people feel that increasing their post count is interesting. The forum games give a way for guys to put pointless posts at least somewhere others are not bothered.
-
hmm i dont understand why that post count is so important its just fun for some players to get high with post count but it wont do anything right? so why make new board without post count for the games and stuff section :S

"Look at this guy, he has 3000 posts, he's daaaamn popular man!" ... I was like that before, that's why I got 'em almost 4000 posts...
But yeah, like Gandalf said, let people waste their time in useless posts. I am sure they will understand at a point that there is no use of it and you do not win anything from this...

You can think back and remember the times when you typed and clicked the "Post" button 2000 or 4000 odd times :D

I like the convo, but we're getting off-topic here...

Possible and quite easy to do, I could do both myself if I had enough rights on forums. (Tallking about not counting and creating the child board.
