Title: Worm-memory abducter help
Post by: Altair_Carter on February 22, 2009, 12:33:25 pm
Greetings, Argonath Players.

I had a bad thing with my computer about 1-2 hours ago : I caught some kind of worm, which infected my HDD Space to decrease it ( I had about 60 GB till it, now i when i realised it i had 45 MB (!)). After some actions taken,i managed to delete worm and stop the decreasing. But now there is a question, which is really needed to be answered for me: How can i recover my "lost" space?

You can try with spybot, to find if worm left any "tails"

bust best solution for me would be to just format infected partition...

The problem is, that the i have only one, whole partition. No others, only Disc C:.
What about the spybot? As im not so sure i deleted it fully.....The tried/deleted worm with Ad-Aware and Avira Antivir Premium security.

Try Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware.
Both are free, scan and remove worm remains.

Used both: Spybot and Ad-Aware.

The threat is over,i guess....but the main question is, HOW TO Free the corrupted free space back??? Nohow :(???

The free space is used by a file. probably a hidden one. Set your options so that you can see all hidden files, and check where the big space eaters are.
Delete the file and space will be free.

yea, that should work, but the question is, does he know how to set it as visible and another is, the files location, it could be anywhere on the drive  :wow:

Its not hard to locate 15Gb of space used anywhere on your drive. How many folders of 15Gb do you think you have ?

Depends for who. Some people fill a folder for, idk, pictures, and after 2 days you can see it fill of pictures, and other stuff.

GRAND DISCOVERY
READ CAREFULLY AND LAUGH

People...i have discovered a thing.....that i rapidly accidently hit "Plus" button, while my FRAPS was open, during playing WoW......Due to this "rapid press", about 2 minutes ago i discovered that i had about 50 videos, captured from WoW in my folder.....so i deleted them, and now i have 145 GB free memory.....But still, due to my researches,i still found that my memory somehow decreased bytes by bytes, but in low rate, but still....THAT's what i was afraid of,and thought its a worm.....
