Well, when my game crashes, my whole pc freezes.
I try CTRL ALT DEL many times and that.
Doesnt work.
I got windows XP
-
This could be far off, but I had this problem and it fixed it for me. Try updating your motherboard. ;)
See it that will work.
-
How? :(
-
Well Davey, i don't know how you know your PC, but if you have the model of it (Should be on the motherboard itself or a box, wich it was shipped in ). Then you can lookup for 'drivers" -> Software that enables some features one your motherboard, or Improve how they work.
So for example : If you have a ASUS motherboard (Asus is the manufacterer (in Nederlands : Uitgever ) from the motherboard. Then look for the model, wich should be in White letters somewhere around. (Example : P5QL-PRO ).
Write the manufacturer AND the model down somewhere, then go to www.asus.com and go to their support site. (support.asus.com )
Keep in mind that your motherboard might be quite different than the one i mentioned here as i just picked one for example.
If that doesn't work, you can try the same with your graphics card, however you can look your model up if you go to :
Click Start > Then go with your mouse to 'My Computer" but DONT click on it. > Right Click on it and select Properties > Then you'll get a screen, where you can click on 'Hardware". Click on it. > Then you can choose to pick out Device Manager (Apparaatbeheer) and go check your Display Adapters there (Beeldschermadapters). There should stand the model of your graphics card.
Also check if there's nothing marked with a green '?" or "!' ..

For motherboard information, use Everest Home Edition, it should display lot of information about your computer.

That could explain it a bit.. You don't have a Graphics Card, only integrated graphics. You may try to update those, but you'll still need the motherboard model and manufacturer, Download the program what Janar (Newarvuti) Said, and check it.

I had same problem but it started to work normally after long time.maybe it was cause of formats and reinstalls of GTA.
-
Okay, Davey has the driver now, He installed it, we just have to wait on another crash, wich probably doesn't come
-
I think its solved a little bit now, I hope, it didn't crash lately, hope it can stay like this. :)
-

I don't know a way to fix it, but I do know of a possible solution. Back when I was playing Vice City (I was on XP at the time), when it froze, sometimes I had to wait 20 seconds for it to exit (sometimes it didn't even exit) and although pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL opened task manager, it was pretty useless because the frozen game stayed on the top, so I couldn't see what I was doing. My solution was to make a batch file which could be opened by pressing a few keys (I set it to CTRL+ALT+Q), that would terminate the Vice City process. The same method can be applied to San Andreas.
My question to you is, can other processes still run in the background or does your computer get absolutely frozen?
BTW, the batch file code is really simple: taskkill /f /fi "imagename eq gta_sa.exe"
-
Well, sometimes you hear some scratch, it freezes and then no sound.
Sometimes it freezes and you still hear a car accelerating.
-
Try out the batch file then.
