Title: Good scanner that can detect msn keyloggers?
Post by: Chase on March 07, 2009, 11:52:51 pm
Hey, I am making sure this hacker that got me on msn, doesn't do it again. Does anyone have any recommendations for a scanner that can detect msn keyloggers? I would also like something that defends against them.

Keyloggers can be harmless but they log every key Stroke you make and can basically grab your Passwords etc etc.. depending what type of Keylogger you got (Remote Access Logger or w/e) the Data it saves can be uploaded to a FTP Account or emailed to a Email Address at certain times.  Good way to stop them is using some Anti-Spyware software as it detects most Keyloggers and Cleans them.  Watch for any suspicious Programs running or Files you come across.

A good one is Avast. Its scanning all your ports all the time as long as avast is active

Ad-aware is useless and not free.
Get avast.

ad-aware is free and i also have avast, and avast DOES NOT scan for spyware and malware and those other types of software, only for viruses!

ad-aware is free
I just checked and saw Ad Aware Plus is now free... I stand corrected.
But, Ad Aware Free does nothing but scan your computer for shit, then shows you the shit, and tells you to pay for pro if you want it removed.
Hence, it's not free... And I'm sure Ad Aware Plus also has some weird scheme that forces you to pay in order for it to do something.

EDIT: Best way to avoid keyloggers etc is not to be stupid.

dude stop being so god damn stubborn, i have ad-aware on 4 of my computers, it scans for all spyware, keyloggers, malware and other software like that and also removes it.
Avast DOES NOT remove those types of software since i also use it on my computers here...

Lol I have it too and it doesn't remove shit for me, it just shows it to me and then says that I'll have to buy it to remove them -.-

AVG 8.0 30 days trial version. It detecs key loggers and every kind of other crap while they are logging in from MSN or Internet.
If someone sends you a virus on MSN, AVG has a link scanner, it scans the link and blocks the contact if it's a virus.

Same for me... it works for me...

You only need to buy Ad-Aware when you want to use Ad-Watch (something like TeaTimer on Spybot S&D)

Another good advice is to buy/download Ewido (it changed it's name to AVG Anti-Spyware I think.. not sure), it's good in getting Trojans and detecting keyloggers. (remember, if you buy it, then don't use it if you already have a anti-virus system.. and if you want to use it both, then set Ewido's real life protection off, but then it will not protect keyloggers Real Time. :) )

Ad-Aware Free can search and remove spyware.
I have tried it.
Also, Spybot Search & Destroy is recommended, multilanguaged program. I use it.
