Well i used to work in a hospital, used to smoke before and during that time, when i saw my first Tracheotomy, i quited... i suggest for people who dont know what that is, google it, u wont smoke again..

well, i watched the video and i all i got to say is, what the fuck? by showing people being torn apart and showing what it does to that part of the body is just fucked up. I see what they're trying to do and it won't work -.-. They completely over exaggerate everything! Just let people be, more than 1/4 of the population ADMIT to smoking, so there's probably more, I hate how people try and convince others not to smoke, not like we make videos promoting smoking (because it's banned, here at least) all of these videos on the adverts and everything make it seem much worse than it actually is, besides, these adverts make children MORE likely to smoke, as they like to rebel and show they're "cool" or "bad". If people want to smoke, let them be and stop bugging them about it, if they wanna quit they will :P

my nan's 69 and she's been smoking since she was 17, so it's been 52 years, she's still going, still shouts her head off and fights me haha :P

My mum and dad smoke, I get really concerned about their health, but, now they smoke E-Cigarettes (Electronic) and they only contain a small ammount of nicotine, they save money, and it doesn't harm them :)

Believe me, Only 9 people at my school are not smokers... The most of 'em just get along with the so called 'cool" kids..
Maybe i'm guessing but at least i know what it comes to at my school, disregarding the situation at your country.

I dont smoke for one reason: tennis, yea i really want to be good on that, and smoking wont help me. I sometimes drink on parties, but not tooo much. My dad and mum smoke, my grandad too, but i will not continue the legacy :evil:

I simply dont smoke because I don't want to smell like shit and get cancer (no offence to hardcore cigarette smokers), but that's just me.
My parents were smokers back in the day and I'm very glad they quit before they had me.
Theres is about three people in my class (of sixty) that smoke cigarettes, thats pretty good stats I guess.

well clearly i do have something to say, I'm giving my reason on why i think they're wrong, i didn't say "to look cool" wasn't a reason, i was saying his "80%" was made up, thus "chatting shit". I smoke because i live a stressful life, simple, it helps me relax and stops me from switching as easy. Not that it's really any of your business, not like i go "oh why don't you smoke?". I haven't once said smoking is good for you....I'm not disagreeing, all I'm saying is let people smoke if they want, and don't talk about something you have had no experience with what so ever.

I started smoking when I was sixteen, having in mind that I asked permission from my dad to smoke infront of him and my mother, so they would not hear from people across the street "hey, your son smokes in the back alley, but don't tell him I told you".
Yes, I smoke a box of cigaretts (19) for 5 days, I smoke only 3-4 cigaretts a day, which is a very small ammount, but I still enjoy it and it's a good feeling.
There is also a fact, while smoking, you are refreshing your brain, as smoking gives you a simulation that you gain energy, but it is fake. So there ARE good points of smoking, tho they are far less than the bad ones...

I don't smoke but I have nothing against smokers except that the smell gets on your clothes.
Also smoking is expensive and that is one of the main reasons not to. Some people I know smoke a pack a day.
I don't mind lending money to people as long as it isn't for stuff like cigars, weed, or stuff like that.
Like people say, no money no addiction.
Some smokers are addicted to nicotine, some are addicted to having stuff in their mouth, which one are you?

To be honest, I never really see smokers that much because its generally agreed in my year at least that smoking is stupid, and all that stuff.
Anyone who does, just does and nobody really does anything about it.
As long as they stay away from me when they're smoking, and they don't make a big point of it, I don't see the issue in them killing themselves, given that it is their choice to do so.
I cannot be around a smoker in any enclosed space for any period of time, given that I completely lose my ability to breath in any density of smoke and start choking like I just swallowed my tongue or something.
As I said, if they stay away from me, I've no issue.

Smoking really is pointless, I don't even smoke tobacco alot, its been a long time since I've smoked tobacco, like a month, I never really did it enough to get really addicted. Chew is nice if you're in school helps you relax and concentrate, and I love the taste of that. The only good things about it is that it calms your nerves and relaxes you, and the taste of some products are very nice, like black and mild wines. The only time I really like smoking is if I'm high and chilling or just bored walking around. But please, there's a way better (Cannabis) and healthier thing to smoke (vaporizing/eating no health issues at all), but sadly its illegal in most parts and all that jive.
And damn Wayne are you retarded, nicotine don't eat your brain cells up, it can cause cancer and some other issues, but nothing like that. Please check your facts if you're gonna say shit. And cigars? Cigars are not meant to be inhaled, just casually puffed, enjoying these time to time isn't a bad thing. Moderation is fine, its heavy use that causes health problems.

Meh, smoke if you wanna, just stay away from me. It smells nasty and when I breathe it in it makes me feel short of breath. Smoking is fine with me, as long as people obey the rules and don't smoke in public places (Restaurants, clubs, schools, malls, etc) or smoke in the designated smoking area.

The sad thing is that 70% of my classmates are smokers. 14-15 year olds. That's just sad, honestly.

this guy knows what he is talking about. I also asked permission infront of my guardian. I tend not to smoke in front of people much as some people don't like it and i respect that, I usually smoke with just a few other friends who smoke.

I don't think you can sum up why smokers start by saying it's to act cool.
Some people plain enjoy it, but i think the main reason why people smoke is because it is a social activity at times. Some people also might do it because they have no friends and want to fit in. Some people do it because they are anxious about what it's like to smoke. Some people might do it to give them something to do on their breaks. etc.. etc...
My point is that theres a range of reasons why people start, not just to 'act cool'.
I don't smoke personally, mainly because i have bad asthma.

after some months.. i was having some problems, then i started to buy some and smoke away...

I used to smoke, i stole siggarets behind my dad like from first grade.I was smoking cause i felt relaxed and i smoked till fifth grade. My dad stopped buying these big blocks of smokes and i had no cash. I started smoking again at end of 6th grade and smoked whole summer till it became winter, outside got cold cash ran out and i got sick. I spent long time at home and my mom was here so i had no way to smoke so finally i almost quited smoking, I mean i still smoke when i drink alcohol it feels good then.

Why are you trying to stop people from smoking? This has been stated before but let me remind you, it is their business, let them do what they want. If they want to smoke and barely go down a flight of stairs without coughing up a lung then let them. Or for t hose smokers who arent showing any signs of unhealthy lungs, let them be as well. If someone wants to start smoking, show them the facts and if they take it into heart, and they still deicde to do it, let them be. Thier stupidity will kill them. Smoking has a powerful addiction and I doubt any people from a virtual community forum can break the addiction. Smokers can smoke all they want, as long as they stay the hell away from me while doing it. I dont hate smokers but I hate when they do it infront of me. 2nd hand smoke sucks for a few reasons. It has horrible smell and it can also f*cked up your lungs..

yeah, in other countries it's so cheap compared to here, although if you order it of websites you can get 200 for 28pound (shitty brand ciggys) which is 2.80 per 20 pack, but yours still work out cheaper...0_0

Its also an incentive to stop smoking, but the government knows that a lot of people are addicted so it raises the tax on them.
Raise the tax all they want I say, more money for the government. If people don't want to pay, they won't buy them. Simple as.

Yes, i am an addicted smoker at 15 sad but, its my choice nobody can tell me what to do. Sure there's health risks. I started because i got depressed, me failing school was mainly it and now i just have maybe 4 a day and i feel ok. Why should it be bad for someone wanting to feel ok?

My mates sometimes try and offer me a quick cig, I turn it down, I have no problem with them smoking, or smokers at all, its their choice, they no the risks, health, money... And its my choice not to smoke, for my own reasons..

Here is mine opinion about smoking, I do not hate people that smoke or have ANYTHING against them, its thier choice if they want to shorten thier life and with that nobody should try tell them anything else than they want to hear by themself. I'm a smoker and have been smoking for 6 years, and I am not proud of it and to be quite honest I have tried to quit it but with no succes :(. Smoking is kinda, its "in" the trend these days and more youth people starts to smoke because they think its cool or just the social thing that comes with smoking.

My grandma's a smoker and my uncle died of lung cancer. My granny's been smoking for 50 years and she's alive.
I guess it's when you start smoking and how often you smoke.
One cigarette a week isn't that bad.
If your grandma is used to smoking ONE cigarette per WEEK she isn't even a smoker...
I've been smoking for about sixteen years or more... No drugs, etcetera... Tried weed once, didn't like it.. Only cigarettes, sometimes cigars.. First I started doing it in school, showing off... That was the most retarded thing I did... And it affected in my life.. It was so easy to say "No, I don't want to" but instead of doing that, I tried it.. After two weeks, I didn't feel any pain while smoking... I started to like it.. Several months ago I used to smoke like.. fifty-sixty cigs / daily. Not so long ago I started coughing blood and got dragged to a hospital by a friend of mine.. They found lung cancer... Now I gotta visit hospital each 3 days for different therapies...

So, the morality is: kids, don't smoke... It's better to say "no" once..

my advice to ppl is to stop tryin 2 make people stop smoking tis their decision and its their lives they gonna f**k up even though i smoke i know my risks but i have suffered depression, it helped me a lot i think.
