Hello guys!!!
I am trying to remove a movie file from my harddrive, only, when I delete it, my windows crashes!
So how can I remove it without using Windows Exporer?
-
I would try removing it in command line (command line only, not windows with command line as from boot selection) via repair on your windows cd.

well :poke: you delete the movie file and your system dies.. it must be that it could somehow be linked to your system or the file may be infected with a kind of virus and it does that so you cant remove it... .
if you delete it then windows crashes, the only other way to remove it would be to use a program like " ERD Commander " but i doubt anyone would be able get it due to the fact that you can get past every password on a PC no matter how secure it is becuase the disk runs as its own OS and uses your Hard drive as a secondary drive so your actual OS is not actually running, i have this program but i will have to talk to you on MSN if you really need it since its a really dangerous piece of software. and im not joking...

Maybe get some video editing software and try to Save As some short, first-better movie on the place of the infected one.

I made that video myself, only I aborted making it with virtualdub, so the video is corrupted.
And I have ERD Commander, I know how to use it. ;)

I don't got a CD with this windows. :'(

Doesn't work, video is corrupted, so the editing software cannot open it.
Someone said via MSN that I need to remove it in Safe Mode... let's try that out..

That's the first thing you should have tried, but I assumed you already did that seeing as you said, "without using windows explorer."

not sure it will work.. but adobe bridge, i believe that is a 'browser'.. :P

Try using "Active KillDISC" or something like that.

If you use XP, start up from CD to the DOS prompt, then go to toe folder and type del <filename>

As I said, I don't have a CD. :)
And Safe Mode doesn't work... maby I should try using Linux..
Poorly, PCLinuxOS cannot edit things in NTFS harddisks, so... hopefully I can find Knoppix somewhere in this house.
EDIT: I fixed it... I just copy'ed another video, and then renamed it, and then pasted it into the "corrupted" video's.. and now they are gone. :)

Then make a startup disk. You can make one as long as our XP is working :P
