Title: Profile & Time And Date Format In AR
Post by: ~Legend~ on March 18, 2009, 09:32:09 pm
This is actually an idea and I can't find a suitable place to post it as this isn't based on one GTA game.
There is an ideas section for each game, but this is in general on the forums. First of all, I think we need to make a proper "Ideas & Suggestions" page on the forums, in general.

I thought it would be useful to have in each of our profile pages, a list of the games we play on for Argonath RPG, eg. VC:MP, SA:MP...... This way we know which game each member plays and if you want to meet up with them ingame, it makes it more convenient.

Secondly, as you know the time and date that is displayed on the forums is in the American Format. eg. mm/dd/yy or for time, mm/hh/ss.
I think we should choose our personal way for the forums to display the time and date, this avoids any confusion that may result from it.

Profile field added for those who wish to use it.
Forum board opened.

As for time/date options, I will see if personalization is possible. To my knowledge it should already be in your profile settings. :D

I can't find the new profile field, has it been removed?

Omg I love you Gandalf! I've been asking for a board or topic for website/forum issues and suggestions forever! :D

P.S. I love the new updates! :cop:

Edit: I also cannot find the new fields.

Thankyou very much Gandalf!
That was very efficient of you.
WOO! I just realised I am the first person to star a topic here (thanks to Gandalf of course!)
I am glad to see that you guys understood what I meant here! Hope it was a good idea  :D
I can't find the profile field either. (Maybe still getting updated?)
Also, I have checked my time and date settings, they seem to be to my preference, but sometimes on the forums they don't appear in the right order, which is odd.

I think he accidently forgot to make the profile fields visible to us. I don't doubt that Admins and Global Mods could see them, but normal users cannot. xD

Sorry Aragorn, but it does not display for us! :D
We cannot view it, nor view it's editing section in our profiles. To us it doesn't exist. I think you need to set it to be viewable to all users, and not just mods/admins, etc.

Yes, I think that's what is going on.
It would be very helpful if you could change this, thankyou.

Yea, looks like we can see it on those that are allowed to have it (main admins etc.). But the field for us hasn't been released yet.
Thanks Ron.

Confirmed. Working now. Thanks RON!!! :)

P.S. You forgot to add "Aragorn" to your "Nick In Game" profile field.

Thankyou very much Aragorn.

Also, shouldn't this option be for GTA games, so that we know which Multiplayer clients we use to play on Argonath's multiple servers? This was my general intention. Otherwise, people can go on about the different games they play.

Plus, you know that on your left hand side for each person's profile summary details that you can view when they post. Could you please make the profile "templates" ie. "NICK IN GAME", "GAMES PLAYED", rank etc. in bold or a different colour so that they stand out and people know that you haven't just added it onto your profile as a laugh?

Many guys here played MTA VC which they do not play nowadays... So info in profile actually is useless...
Or I did not understand the point of request...

If you prefer just listing GTA MP clients, then go ahead, but I don't see any reason to restrict it for other users.

Oh no,
I just thought there would be no point of members going into great depths about other irrelevant games.

Agreed.

Aragorn: His other request was to have the titles of the "Nick In Game" and "Games" fields in bold so it stands out against the listed games and other information.

I was just going to bring this up actually. Thank you for doing so, Sugar.
Also, my point of adding "the games played" field is so that, for instance, if one of the members wishes to meet another member ingame, instead of asking every time "which clients do you play on etc.?", you can straightaway check their profile for the relevant information. If people list all sorts of games this makes it unhelpful. I could play on San Andreas and Vice City, but I may not necessarily play on SA:MP. This would be slightly misleading.

:ps: Yes, we really need to bolden or change the colour of the different fields on the profile summaries on the left. Makes it easier to distinguish them! Otherwise people can create their own unofficial fields just by using "<text> :".

The summaries are already in bold, but if you're referring to the information displayed to the left of our posts, imo they look good the way they are.

It's not about making them look good! It does make them more organised, but that's not the general point. I have mentioned this below.

No problems, I have seen people adding fields like "World Of Warcraft Name:" for example....

:ps: Aragorn, awww, why did you hide the field?
