Well, I get this problem everytime I play SA:MP, when I start playing for the first couple of minutes it feels fine, then from then on, every ten seconds, I feel lag for about five seconds, then it stops, ten seconds later it starts again, and stops, and it just keeps starting and stopping, I don't know what the problem is, I never get this in MTA:SA, or single player, Frame Limiter is off, Draw Distance is 0, I tryed low and high resolutions, 16 bit and 32 bit, Anti Analising is off, I just don't understand why I get this lag, I even downloaded that mod that take some effects away, still same problem, can anyone help please?
-
Might be some corrupted files, have you tried a reinstall of GTA SA and SA:MP?
This might solve the problem, and shouldn't take long ;)
-
I just reinstalled two days ago, was getting the lag problem before, and still getting it now.

1) Remove all mods.
2) Turn off any background things like Net Browser, MSN, etc, that you do need need running while playing SA:MP.
3) Make sure that there is not a Virus Scan running in the background, or a Automatic Update for Windows. These are the most common causes of lag like yours.

I dont have mods, but I tried all the things you've mensioned there, what could it be?

When was the last time you defragmented your PC?
-
I had that problem when my laptop overheated, but that was due to a faulty heatsink/fan, which I got replaced. However, since you don't get this on single player or MTA:SA, I think it's likely to be some other reason.

Never, I never either really understanded what it does.

Never, I never either really understanded what it does.
Files sometimes get fragmented (splitted and scattered around the hard drive) and it takes it longer to read.
Defragmenting is moving the file parts to make a continuous stream on the HDD so the header doesn't have to move back and forth to read the data.
Something like that...
btw, tried with frame limiter ON?

btw, tried with frame limiter ON?
I was about to suggest that, but he said that the problem only starts happening after a few minutes. Even if this isn't the cause, you should do it anyway and use /fpslimit [20-100] to reduce fps lag.
Lower number = Choppier gameplay, but much less chance of fps lag.
Higher number = Smoother gameplay, but if it's too high, you'll get fps lag and you're computer (depending how good it is) will have a maximum it can perform at. If you have Fraps (http://fraps.com), you can find this maximum.

Anyone got a solution yet? Now this problem has started happening on MTA:SA D:
-
Try To Restart Router Mybe its The problem or ReInstall Windows and if it didnt work ReInstall MP-SA and GTA SA but you Must Try To reInstall Windows (Xp pro,Vista,sp3)
;)

Just enable the Frame Limiter and do /fpslimit 100. If you already tried it, I dunno.

Do you have any idea how much we would be spammed if everyone posted because they didn't know how to help?

Don't post in this topic if you have no answer, whenever I see their is a new post in this topic, I think there could be a solution, and I don't want people wasting my time.
:ps: Looks like what Voodoo said worked, but I'm still looking for more solutions just incase my lag starts again.
-
Cool. Hopefully, it won't start again.
-
Lag problem is gone, I don't get it anymore, thanks for your help Voodoo. :)

Well, from what I see, this problem is happening in all my full screen applications, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, BMW M3 Challange, Driving Test Success Practical, I get FPS lag, I turned on fraps, and I saw every 10 seconds the frame-rate drops to around 11-12, then five seconds later it goes back to normal, then in another 10 seconds, the frame-rate drops again, I've done all the options to try to stop this, I've closed loads of needless proceeses, I've tryed all VC and SA settings, I've changed the Windows theme to Classic, but it happens everytime, in all settings, I don't know what it could be, could it be the RAM?, when I'm in full screen applications, phsyical memory usage is around 70-80%, couple of months ago, I never used to get this problem, all my full screen applications runned perfectly without any problems, if anyone knows a answer to fix this, please respond, thanks. :)
My Specifications:
Windows Vista Home-Premium
1.00GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Pentium D 3.00GHZ 2 Cores

Can you tell me what graphics card you have?? if its a nVidia card, when last did you update your drivers?
If its a nVidia and you recently updated your drivers, there is your problem, if it is a nvidia and you just updated drivers, simply remove all the nVidia drivers, reboot your PC, Reinstall your drivers from the CD you got with the card and it should be good..
from what i see it could be an error/problem caused by that, i have had that before with my system and its way more powerfull then what youre running... ;)

I have a Intel Intergrated Chipset, 64MB, normally I didn't get this problem, with random lag.

Are you telling me you dont have a graphics card? :wow: well if you have updated graphics drivers. remove all of the graphics drivers, reinstall the stock ones that came with the computer/motherboard... or graphics card if you have one.. :poke:

I don't get why this happens, look at this image, it says Free Memory: 6, but PC runs fine, and while I'm playing San Andreas it says Free Memory: 2, and I get random FPS lag...

Well, I think I've layed my problem to rest now, it turns it, that it might of been my RAM which was causing the problem, anyways, I updated the RAM, turned on SA in high settings, the game runned really smoothly, without the random lag. :D

Erm...is your pc a desktop or laptop? When was the last time you cleaned it? If you didnt clean it and its a desktop then take a peek inside if there is dust, you might add some pictures also. Do you get any weird noise from fans? Run speedfan for temperatures and fan control, simply google "speedfan". (without " ") If you have high temperatures you might wanna buy thermal paste and canned air, the canned air isnt really a must, i cleaned my pc with a vacum cleaner, hair dryer might also help. So check for these thighs, post some pics of your pc, if it will be still slow then just buy a graphic card for like 50 euros i saw 8400 nvidia thats like 256 mb (or 512 there are 2 graphics card models).

I did get a graphics card, ATI Radeon HD 3400, and now like I just said...
