Just 2 things which I need regular/new people to be careful with:
1. Difference between value of a property/vehicle and the ownership cost.
On 2 separate occasions I have had 2 regulars pm me, asking me to negotiate with an another regular about getting their money back. The reason was that the person who gave money for "ownership" didnt realise that "ownership" only meant a finder's fee for the person who is giving you his car and is not the money for having your name on the car.
Remember, every car/house/bizz has a value. Thats the basic cost which is set for that vehicle/property. Owners of the property/cars or finders of unowned property/cars are free to charge an amount as ownership. Its the cost they require to be persuaded to sell you the car/house/bizz. Clearly understand the difference between ownership/value.
I also request the regulars to do the following before selling something:
(i). Ensure that the person who is buying anything from you has the total amount of money necessary to buy the product.
(ii). Talk to him 2-3 times about the value and fee, making it clear to him that he is not being scammed in any way.
2. Scamming of new players
While specing it is noticed that some regular players scam the new players who have just registered.
Example1 : - Regular to New player: Give me 5k and I will show you a clothing store.
Example2 : - Regular to New player: I can give you a job
New player to Regular: Job? Where?
Regular to New player: Give me 5k for weapons
New player to Regular: I dont have much(He was intelligent enough to lie about his money. He had 10k)
Regular to New player: How much do you have?
New player to Regular: 1100.
What the heck? 5k to show a clothing store and 5k from a new player for a job/buying weapons? Guys, help out new players, dont scam them. Why is everything based on money? Yes, I make money too, all through roleplay, I sell cars and ask for a 10 percent fee when I sell houses through Slade Real Estate Services. But never have I taken money like this from people. This is scamming of new players. Be warned. All players are being watched by admins. If you are found scamming in any way, you will be banned without any tempban whatsoever.
The Ulukai.

Yes, that is exactly my point. And mind you, people who were attempting the scam were people who had thousands of dollars! How terrible that they try to scam people who have one tenth of what they have!
-
Well I can also add this , happends several times ... a new player wants a phone/cb radio/clothes ... a regular guide him to a shop ( his own shop) .. he got 2k fee and tell him to do /enter... :poke:

Scamming new players can end in straight ban if it's noticed twice or even once, depends from the violence of the scam.
-
Someone stick this? ;)
-
Nice heads up Cutter. :)

Although point 2 is not really good, it's not scamming. If the player wants to get cash for it, it his right.
-
It´s not his rights. Greed is a deadly sin
-
But it's not against the rules. And he can demand what he wants, it's what the new guy decides.

me too, i will show them my own clothes shop :D
and there are players who actually do this, not only in this but also with commands,
saying /q to get a job and that stuff, or saying wrong prices of things,
always make sure others can pay your stuff
about the showing, just say /jobhelp if they want a job, not that hard, takes 5 secs,
no need to let them pay
@voodoo
its not a rule true, but asking 5k to get a job? no way, new players should give a fee on there own
if they liked the help, you shouldnt ask them
it is what a new guy demands thats true, but they dont know about normal prices yet,
you shouldnt even ask money, and if you do ask only $100 or so

Certainly is. The absurdity of the claim for 5k can be understood as follows:
If you have 200k in total that is, by considering your house value, car value and money and someone asks you for 100k wouldnt you agree that it is absurd? Similarly if regulars ask new players for 5k out of their 10k, it is most absurd.
We are supposed to welcome new players to the server. Not cheat them off their money. I can understand if you take 100 dollars from them for the ride, though imho you should not(as they are new and what difference would 100 bux make to yregulars anyway).
-
Newcommers has no clue how much and if it's much to give 5k. Maybe in somewhere it's poor ammount, but somewhere - it isn't.
-
It's absurd, its greedines, it's bad, but it's not scamming. If the new guy decides to accept it, it is only his fault.
-
New guys dont even know how much money they have. They dont even know how to check their money. Thats why when more informed players like regulars try to pull off stunts like those in the examples, I referred to it as scamming. Would another regular give 5k to goto a clothing store even if he had 100k? Thats my point. When people who are more informed try to take money from people who are less informed, it is scamming in the truest sense of the term.
-
New people should use their brains - If they are willing to spend money on a 2k fee without even looking at this fee it means they are not looking to spend a long amount of time here.
Along with any dealing, etc.. they know they only have 10k thus they should use it widely. It's not scamming if they agree to it. If someone gets banned for something like this, I'll be the second to argue (after the first ;)).
It's absurd, its greedines, it's bad, but it's not scamming. If the new guy decides to accept it, it is only his fault.
Too right. :)
