Hey all,
I want to start a discussion about Windows 7.
What do you guys think about it and expect from it?
I got the newest Beta here on dvd. Bug free and fully working as my uncle tested it.
Im going to install it tomorrow and tell you guys what i think of it.
What do you guys think? :D
-
More info plz? :D
Newest version of Windows?
New than Vista?
-
When Vista came out I sticked with XP because of the bad feedback.
Now that Windows 7 is about to come I'm certainly installing it, you won't need a high level computer to work on it, it's lighter than Vista, etc.
Good things - Is all I hope from Windows 7
-
I've got the current newest version (Windows 7 Release Candidate 1.0 ) and i have to say i really like the way it's re-organised.
Also very good to use when coming from XP, and Media Center runs as smooth i've never seen before. Fully supports HD Graphics... What could we wish more
-
Well i hate that Grouping of apps, as for bugs stil pretty buggy.. when i tried to delete files sorted by size it still found those files in search.. Search doesnt even understand wildcards, oh and yeah lets not forget a big blue ord with red ERROR where start should be after search got bugged.. So all in all, still not good, improvements are made since first beta relase but still not stable to go to full production...
-
Abosolutely horrible, hate it with every bone in my body, wish it was never brought it...
1. No way to uninstall it
2. Grouping of apps
3. Ugly
4. Slow
5. Microsoft
I could go on, but i'll leave it at that :)

Why do you have Windows XP 32 bit on 6GB RAM?
You realize you're only using like 3GB RAM on XP 32 bit?
Get Vista 64 bit.. :\
More info plz? :D

Man you're dumb.
Windows 7 is the latest OS from Windows. It's currently in beta stage, and Melvin is thinking of using it.
From what I've heard; it's meant to be better than vista. Although it seems it has quite a lot of bugs at the moment.
-
Melvin on that system i strongly suggest Win Vista 64 with sp1... Im having non so ever troubles with it,and works like a charm

You have 6 GB of DDR2 and you use a 32-bit OS?
-
Yea i was dumb with 32 bit :P.
What i've done, I opened the friggin case, Threw in the CD, and i Installed Windows 7!
OMG, This is not normal how nice it is. OMG, I will never get a other OS. I suggest everyone to use Windows 7. Its smooth, Really fast, Starting and shutting down my pc takes less then 4 seconds.
Its fast. Games got more FPS.
Jesus fuck, Why were i scared to install it. Its b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l
That was my review LOL
Really you guys, Ive got no problems that its a beta. I used the Final beta so this one can be compared to the one what is getting released.
Omg its so nice.

1. It's a beta/RC. That's a duh before you install it.
2. Agreed, but it's a feature.
3. User opinion.
4. Your system just sucks. :)
5. What's wrong with them? If you don't like MS, then don't test their software.
You have 6 GB of DDR2 and you use a 32-bit OS?
It'll still work, depending on the OS he's using. Some 32-Bit OS'es can read up to 128GB of RAM, and others can only see up to 2GB, 4GB, etc.
@Wash: XP x86 uses up to 4GB by the way, not 3GB. :cop:

Windows 7 is great, light operating system but it does have a LOT of bugs as it is in beta stages. The fact that Microsoft are doing public beta testing shall help them resolve these bugs and glitches. So... I'm guessing that Windows 7 is going to be the best operating system released by Microsoft so far.
Don't be stupid and run it as your main OS. Run it in virtual PC until it is fully released.
-
Dude, Im using it as my main OS now and ive got no problems with it.
Its light, Stylefull
Games run better with more FPS.
Why wait more months till it get released, This is nice.
-
I've yet to see a single bug in it, and I have an old beta build of it. I freaking love it...

Because the Beta version is only supported until the end of this year. I would not put all my trust into a beta os. All who say oh it's great, I've had no problems, blah, blah. I have had 3 versions, one of the copies (build 7000) completely bugged out, I could not move any windows, close, move, maximize or minimize, I am not the only one as I researched to try and find a solution and many people experienced the same problem. In build 7077 Windows explorer crashed regularly and would not load by running explorer.exe so a restart was needed every time.
But... Whatever, use it at your own risk. Maybe I am just unlucky, maybe you will be in the future to.
-
ive used the 64 bits version the newest build.
Completely bugless and alot of people told me, And i can use it untill 10 june 2010. But when its 10 june i already got an other OS :D.
So i dont get your problem. But do what you want :P
-
The BEST new feature is you don't have to re-install after replacing motherboard with different chipset.. Now that is a usefull change ..
Also later on in final release, Windows 7 will have a virtual machine with a FREE fully licensed XP. With other words, you have a XP included into the Windows 7 OS. I simply like that.
Also the auto-driver install works as better as ever.

Correct. Btw, I heard it was made specially because everyone complained that Vista couldn't run many XP Applications, so they did it to make a feature running XP Apps on 7th. Which sounds paradoxly, but funny."Windows in Windows"
-
Well, it's funny Vista is just nowhere to find.... Like windows wants to forget about it asap..

Doing the same thing as you, I am going to use Windows 7 till the final release that is comming on June 2010 :). I like Windows 7 pretty much, yet I have not experienced any bugs but time will proove if there is any.
-
I am using Windows 7 Build 7000 as main Operating System.
I haven't had any problems with it, all hardware/software, which i have tried so far, work well.
Did i read correctly, that newer version of Windows 7 BETA is available?
EDIT: I found information from microsoft.com, no answer needed anymore.
-
The less fat Windows Vista.
-
Okay, i read about RC version.
I don't understand, that part:Windows 7 RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use.
Does that mean, that i have to buy Windows 7 version also?
Btw, my processor supports 64bit OS, so i thought about installing Windows 7 64bit.
But now, i think that some drivers might not work, as 32bit drivers won't work on 64bit.
So, question: Should i install 64bit or 32bit Windows 7 RC?
I do not want answers, that do not install it! I know it is not ready and i want to test it. I know well computers and i have all my data back-upped, so i am ready to test it anytime!
