Show us a screen shot of your processes in the task manager.

That's normal
I have 99-100%
And nothing is lag
Maybe problem with something else
Internet Connection?
Anyway, what u mean by "lag"
Ping lag or Graphic lag?
-
100% normal?
mine is 0-2% when i don't play anything
-
i had the same problem with my old pc , when i wanted to open an application \ progam \ game .... my CPU busts to 100% working full load , but after the apply was open he cames back to 20% .....
Is you're CPU stuck at 100% ? Do you have Windows XP SP3 ?
-
100% normal?
mine is 0-2% when i don't play anything
Well, sorry, I mean 100% is normal when doing something or installing/downloading something
But it still not making your PC lag or anything
Actually the normal is under 50%, and I have about 22%

The first time i tried to help her the application named "svchost.exe" was the using the highest kb. But it dissapeared after turning Automatic Updates off in windows itself.
Now i know from experience a processor should never use more then 60% from it's total capibility. ( Except for when you are gaming, but not when you are like just running normal programs, it shouldn't be that high when in idle mode. ) It can cause overheat and lag and other stuff you wouldn't want to happen. This happend to myself once and what i found out was some kind of program named "Folding@Home" not sure what it does or means, but i know it uses 100% of your CPU. I don't think this is the cause on this moment, but maybe.
What also could be, is that the starting up programs, which start up when starting up windows, should be disabled. Atleast the ones you don't really use, and maybe that causes the processor to work 100%.. But idk, that's what i googled so far, if i have any other news i will say it here, but the bad thing is, Twenty doesn't have any administrator rights, meaning you cannot edit or change anything in windows itself..
Stay in touch, and i might find a solution soon enough, but this is fixable as it happend to myself..
And no james, it's not normal when a CPU uses 100%.. Seriously. Dunno where you got that from, but that's surely not good.

Firefox acts weird at times. It gets 100% and my pc goes crazy. as for svchost.exe, it might be a virus as I had one 5 months ago. get SuperANTISPYWARE free edition. it cleaned my pc :D . and please post a processes screenie :p. I might be able to help better with that.

First two google answers
But since you don't have administrator rights, and your brother won't let you go on it, i suggest taking avast! and Spyware doctor and SCAN SCAN SCAN
As, it maybe because of the multiple spyware/adware on your computer.
If nothing else helps, put a magnet next to your PC. Magnet must be strong one.

svchost is not a virus...

There is a similar program named "scvhost.exe" that's a virus, but i don't think that's the problem..
-
scvhost is used by the Nod32 antivirus ..... my friend got a probl with this scvhost he wanted to closed it but it was continue to auto-open .... so he unistalled the antivirus and installed another one .....
Try to get another anitivirus if the problem is from the scvhost.exe

Itz in dutch.. Sorreh..
-
well twenty, theres something skrewed with the svhost... it shouldnt use so much system power.. have you done a virus scan lately... and tried to end task on Svhost... if you fix the Svhost issue.. your CPU usage will drop... ;) the problem is more then likely caused by a virus... or some sort of spyware etc. :devroll:

Anyone got a Solution?
-
i personally think you should do a virus scan maybe something is taking up system recourses somehow.. i personalyl run a hell of a load of apps while working.. heres a screenshot for example of my system power being used.. was rendering a vid at the time, listening to music and working with the other apps at that time...

run a full antivirus and spyware scan, 100% means something is using your svchost to load your cpu
-
No Virus found by the Virus Scanner..
-
which virus scanner?
-
Done a anti spyware scan aswell??
-
Requesting lock..
Problem fixed:
CPU: 17%
-
Good that you fixed it.
Did the double Adobe reader process have anything to do with it ? Seemes that the Adobe auto-updater might have been the problem.
-
Not really. I kinda hacked the Computer, Made myself Admin, fixed the prob, and changed my self back to non-admin :D
Requesting lock again :)
-
Still, mind telling the solution, to help in future.
