APB - All Points bulletin

APB blends fast-paced third-person action, deep customization, and meaningful achievement to create a unique persistent online multiplayer experience.

APB utilizes cutting edge technology to create a “living, breathing” city where players clash — on foot and in vehicles — to determine the future of San Paro, a fictional metropolis, where two factions — Enforcement and Criminal — vie for control.

APB is being developed by Realtime Worlds — creators of the award-winning Xbox 360 title Crackdown — and is one of the largest and most ambitious online game projects in development worldwide.

It was supposed to come out for X360 first, but at the moment they release it on PC first

Probably planning on releasing it on the X360 and PS3 later.

They now have EA as publisher so you can pretty much rely on the Q1 2010 release.

Q1 means the first quarter of 2010.. Its like the period between January - April ?

Payment options are not revealed yet but chance is big they are planning something unique. Since they have EA as publisher, they will probably release a boxed version...

Though nothing is definite just keep an eye on their site and the fansite  ;)

I was kinda focused on this game since I first heard about it...

Since the E3 announcment, I was happy to hear about APB, because it went YEARS of silence.

I signed up for the beta, and maby I will get accepted. But I will buy this game, and hopefully it won't be a fail. :)

Watch the trailer again, you can see the cops for 5 seconds orso.

And it's not like WoW... when you buy the game, you can play it forever without paying more.
You only need to pay for clothes and stuff. (lame EA strategy :()

More than any other QFT on the internet.

EA scum.

Still, if they didn't develop it, only the initial publishing will be totally fucked up! Game looks good.

1. The payment method is not published yet but they say something like: It will be something unique ( Not the exact words, but they said something similar like this )

Search for it ;)

2. "Enforcers" can be everything; Soldiers, cops, Bounty Hunters, SWAT etc.

Not just cops...

3. You can "Sign up" and hope you get accepted in a beta. It will be a later stage since the people at APB Evolved will be the first ones to enter the ones that signed up there very early.

Had the ability to play the alpha/beta, whatever, at a friend's of mine, about four days ago. I only discovered it on the same day, though.
In my opinion, it still is quite raw. Concerning the main view of mine - it probably will get boring after one-two weeks of playing.

Well, it depends on quite many factors for what like it for what dislike.
Me, for example, i play TF2 non-stop for like already 6 months. Some can't even play it for 2 weeks.

Stop worrying so much.

Vehicle customization - Some parts of it will prob. be money.
Clothes Customization - Some parts of it might prob. be money.

Better weapons - Nah.
Pay every month - Nah.
Pay in shop - Perhaps.
Microtransaction - Probably in some way.
Advertisements - Yeah but not annoying ones.

Other stuff they might consider perhaps:

Unlock weapons by buying them instead of levelling
Unlock any other sort of item by buying them instead of levelling.

I've heard it wont become something like most F2P MMO's and I've also heard it wont become like most P2P MMO's. They said to make something more unique so lets just assume that

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online

So it's OBVIOUSLY a multiplayer game.
I don't think it has single player.

What about EUROPE?!?! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!
I'm not waiting ONE MORE MONTH OR YEAR for APB to be released on Europe  :flame:
I've waited for this game ever since it was f'in announced, I'm not waiting any longer than March

Okay, I overreacted.
Maybe they'll just release like a week after in Europe.
But since this is an MMO, I highly doubt -_-

Well be happy, all the americans will get all the server issues and we will get a stable server right away ;)

Guys, this is more like a Deathmatch MMO, not a roleplay-DM MMO  Unless if there are seperate servers like WoW.

EXCEPT if people can make their own dedicated servers - then I would HIGHLY recommend Argonath to make a roleplaying one... Perfect game for it (if you also could script and stuff)

When it says third quarter, thats the limit set on getting the beta finished.

Theres still a shit load of bugs being found in the beta, we have had a SHIT LOT to rewrite.

I joined the team late on, and il have you know, EA are playing a minor part in the development, RTW still runs the show, but the funding was hard to come by.  The idea of a monthly subscription came from EA, but it was dismissed, as this would lose a large player base.

I cant say too much, as panda and jay know, but it WILL be worth the wait, it is frankly the best thing iv ever seen.

We are still tweaking the ideas with the music system at the moment, as the current idea is incredibly resource-hungry. :P

Good thing they delayed it then!! Sonic The Hedgehog (for PS3 and 360) sucked because it was made in a rush...
But, RTW, please release a public beta or demo soon, at least just for a few days or a month like Battlefield BC2?????????
:(

I'll probably e-mail them asking if they are gonna make any public beta or demo soon lol

Mateys, according to this FAQ, this game, in short, is the best idea for a videogame EVER in history. (http://www.apb.com/faq/) It looks just epicness, looks like some sort of GTA4 + SR2 + Free Roam + Turf Wars + 100 players.
Looks like we can actually do some sort of roleplay in this game, not just shootouts, according to the FAQ, there's action part of district and social :D
(I stated the obvious, but it's just a bit of info of those who weren't bothered to read the FAQ lol)

Anyways Brad good luck with your job :)

I don't think that's about the game, but about the gamer himself, WoW can be as addicting as Ragnarok Online/Argonath/Any other MMORPG, due to groups, clans, guilds, chat, friends, public chat, animations, weapons, fights, stats, etc etc etc etc
APB can be an unique MMORPG similiar to Argonath; you just have to think a little... (plus, action + social parts of districts look so pwnage...)

Me maxy and panda are already planning on playing together, as criminals, although I have NO experience playing this game as a criminal, only as a bounty hunter enforcer, so I'm hoping that will level out the pegs a bit.  I know JayL and a few others are going to be playing enforcer.

And to an earlier post, there will not be an argonath server, as, at the moment we will not be allowing people to set up servers as wel already have everything we need.  Its like the WoW servers.   We can appreciate private servers will pop up, but they wont be able to match to the full game.

Okay, lets see....
Is there a leveling system? Ohgod, pleaseno, not like in WoW
Can you create characters in both Enforcers and Criminals?

What classes/types of gameplay can you choose as Enforcer/Criminal? You just said you played as Bounty Hunter Enforcer, there are others?

The info i can give.

We prefer to say the game runs on a respect system, the most respected becoming famous, but i cant release how that works.    I honostly dont know about criminal gameplay, as i have only alpha/beta played an enforcer on request of my boss, and all my coding was part of the music/sounds area of the game.

As an enforcer, you can play many legal careers, including Bounty Hunters, police officers and security guards.  There are more unannounced paths to take, each one is fun in its own way.

There seem to be four "factions" of sorts that you can do "missions" for o_o.
Two of them are for enforcers, and two are for criminals.
If I remember correctly, the two criminal factions are essentially a gang and a mafia.
That said, I think most of it is your character rather than who you do missions for.

I think its going to be pretty different from other games. :)

I dislike roleplay in the purest sense of the word, this game gets rid of all the fluff I never liked. I can make a group, customize it, make a topic if I like, and roll around killing people and robbing shit. I don't have to pretend to "be a yakuza leader" when I can just be me, Panda, playing APB as the leader of a group. I hate roleplay immersion.

Roleplaying in a game that you are supposed to be a top kriminal with serial killer instinct and rob everyone you can see and shizz is like eating a chocolate cake without chocolate.
Argonath RPG and APB are totally different games :L

Apparently its not likely to be out before the end of September.

It isn't actually in the NDA, but one of the mods said it on one of the fansite forums.
You should be fine as long as you don't go into detail or post pictures though.

Did you think the game servers would be funded by RealtimeWorlds Lemonade stands?

the payment was only decided less than a week ago, and to be honest, I don't like it, but it pays for the servers and for people like me to patch the game.   Half of you already pay more for WoW per month, and you were saying you would drop WoW for this, but now won't because you have to pay?

Title: Re: APB - All Points Bulletin
Post by: Yihka on May 04, 2010, 02:56:59 pm
I think the 20 hours for 5,60 euro's should have been:

5 euro's for 20 hours
10 euro's for 50 hours
20 euro's for 120 hours

Perhaps even more as 30 days unlimited is only 8 euro's

But thats just my opinion!

Do the hours expire if you don't use them?

Its totally money efficient to buy monthly, its basically not even worth looking at the hours.
But they only tick down in Action District if you do get them.

Do the hours expire if you don't use them?

We are currently debating that, as if people quit, their userfiles will need to stay even if they delete their characters, in case they come back crying about us stealing from them.   But in all honesty, I think everyone should just take the monthly subscriptions, its like, marginally more than runescape, and a lot less than WoW.

Plus, its an awesome game, its well worth the price.

Some questions for APB
1. Is it online (multiplayer) only ?
2. Does it require monthly payment ?
3. Is it released ?
4. (if Q3's answer is yes then) How much is it ?
5. Is there end missions ? i mean, is there any number of missions, where, when you pass them all, the game ends ??

Its not pay2play when u think of it. In game u can buy a month with the money u make inside, play for 1 hour, u make enough to play for free for 1month, it's REALLY not Paying monthly.. they give u a feature so u can use in game money to buy months to play..so really, its free for me.

The ingame money convert to RWT (or whatever the donation value is), getting RWT for your ingame mastepieces etc.

Also, the game got less customers because they've still made it P2P.

Hmm... Well, only 122 minutes left... 5GB downloaded, if I stop it, do I have to download it all again?

No, it will start again where it finished last time.

Btw, First, can you have 2 characters? (one enforcer & one criminal)

Yes, you can have several characters including both 'forcers and criminals.

Second, what are the best  weapons?

The weapons are fairly balanced at the moment.

The N-HVR is the best sniper rifle. Don't bother with the DMR.
The Obeya is the best semi automatic rifle. Don't bother with the OBIR.
The N-Tec (AK47) is the most effective automatic at long/mid range. Don't bother with the SHAW.
The OCA (MP5K) is the best short/mid range automatic.
The JG is the best point blank shotgun, if you can aim. Don't bother with the NFAS.

So basically APB is not as good as everyone says? ;/

With patch 1.4.1 (currently on the test world) it's become so much better. Like, really a lot better.

I bet it's a darn good game, it's just... Just the same cluster f**k to install as GTA IV were/is

APB is easy as hell to install.. you don't even have to do anything. -_-

Imo, the things making something hard is the things in life that takes time...

Getting a professional football player is hard, as it takes a lot of time of practicing.
Taking a good education is hard, it takes a darn long time to become a lawyer.

Life is time, it's all you'll need.

Realtime Worlds, the company that made it, collapsed today under three million pounds of debt.
Activision has plans for hiring the staff, and offering them positions overseas. It won't be taking over Realtime Worlds, or any of it's projects, including APB. I assume there will be no further support for the game...
Title: Re: APB - All Points Bulletin
Post by: Pandalink on August 19, 2010, 06:13:47 pm
"Three million pounds" should really be preceded by "only".
There will be a long period of administration, and then a buyer will likely take on the project.

Hopefully, they will find a better business model. Personally I think the RTW points system perfectly suits microtransaction models, perhaps they will go for that.
Either way, a finished MMO with a playerbase of any kind and running servers isn't just going to be ditched. MyWorld will be thrown out, but APB.. no way.

The N HVR is better then the DMR, but it depends how u use it. my friend completely rapes face with the DMR, And the OBEYA does not beat the obir if u can aim with the obir.. i beat a Obeya 3 slot with the OBIR Jesse James.. and i've seen a guy with a 2 slot shaw own a guy with a n tec dvah. and the NFAS is good, but the JG is stronger. NFAS u can just hold and point... really every gun on APB is really how u play. it's not one certain gun that can't beat another gun. But the most USED guns are the N tec and OCA. The OBIR in Beta use to rape fucking face, with savage 3 it was a 2 shot burst. i think it's the same but i haven't tried it. they removed the 3 slot OBIR because it was so over powdered.

Use quote tags, Nick..

my friend completely rapes face with the DMR,

He should just use the HVR then, and he would rape several more faces.

And the OBEYA does not beat the obir if u can aim with the obir..

> Implying the OBIR shoots where you aim it.

The OBIR in Beta use to rape f**king face, with savage 3 it was a 2 shot burst. i think it's the same but i haven't tried it.

Well there you go then.
At release they decreased OBIR damage, accuracy, and increased the accuracy penalty when moving. It's even worse in 1.4.1. where the recoil is a bit too jumpy for a burst fire rifle to really be effective.

And how exactly has this lost them money? The RTW points were still bought into the market.
People will once buy a whole bunch of them at the start and then simply exchange that for some bonuses with eachother. Means no more money to them.

But.. it means they got loads of money from the "whole bunch" at the start.
Either way, they don't lose money. In fact, because of the marketplace tax, they make more money if somebody hands around a big batch than if each player buys seperate.

It just got a recoil update, u might think "what the fuck this game sucks" Compared to GTA, every gun jumps and has recoil now. it's like CSS but in 3rd person. If u get use to the recoil, it's a fun and great game now. Recoil made it win.

Meaning APB will stop.

As the online play is ran by RTW it will no longer be ran, They will close the APB forums and continue the Servers for a while.

16:00 - We changed the player limit to 100 players for action districts. Also, all accounts have been made free to play for as long as the service stays up.

I guess this means that who had a account on beta, which had no time after beta closed and game gone live, can play the actual game :D.

APB failed because it refused to listen to the people who beta tested it even though they took people who had VCMP and SAMP backgrounds and rumored dev's from LSRP and GodfatherRP were apart of the beta, despite the fact that half the DEV who made APB team was behind GTA SA, and SAMP. It's sad but the missions in game were really fail and if anything the game would have turned into a Argo like MMO however for only being live 3 months before close it currently has the World Record for "Shortest Live MMO" Yeah its nice to have a fully customized skin but I mean the entire game was a 100% rip off of SAMP and VCMP if the game was still going i would think SAMP and VCMP and even IVMP would have died slowly like another MMO i play because the DEV team BARLEY listens to the players and Maximizes profits!

1. I was the only person in the APB dev team that even knew what samp was.
2. Beta testers had a voice, unfortunatly all we got was "OMG MAEK DIS WRK"
3. There were 42 beta testers from samp/vcmp backgrounds, out of 1200 beta testers.
4. The point of APB was cops n robbers, not Roleplay.
5. The feedback we got on missions were that they were amazing fun, even though they were all similar.
6. I'd like to see you make a better MMORPG.
7. The customisation was one of our selling points, we had to make it a huge thing.

Also, to Louis, the company that apparently bought out APB, good luck to them, but the audio system will need to be remade, as it wasnt licensed to RTW, a small team of us + LastFM made it, so the code technically belongs to LastFM.

If they make it to pay to upgrade weapons, clothes or vehicles they'll just fuck it up.

I'd like it to have it's own online registration system, so it wont be able to be pirated.. and have to buy the game fully once.. no more. (Like 40 euros once.. then free to play forever.)

Poor/ disgusting graphics, worst car handling than any driving game on PS1 even, weapons were all pretty much the same, all felt the same to shoot. Lots of customisation which was good, but got quite boring. Few cars to buy, all handled the same anyway. Damage and physics made driver for ps1 look like GTAIV.

All in all, if it was such a good game, company would not have gone bust.

Whilst I was playing, the match making system was fucked. I used to get put up against faggots with a rating of something like 290 when I had 100 myself.. Then when I request for back up some douche with R10 joins. The car handling was poor but I believed they patched it. Recoil was also added to the weapons.

One of the things I used to hate when I was playing the beta, is like you wash..

Game putting you against experienced players, when you were a new player.... and had no "good" guns.

Bump, has any-one been given access to the APB:R beta yet?

I've got a key around 2 weeks ago, still waiting for an answer of my application.

Weren't the servers closed down, because the game was a total fail? Sorry if I'm wrong..

You're ages back.

APB was bought by K2 Networks, A company which owns a lot F2P MMOs (crappy ones.).. And it was being re-done (not from scratch but fixing errors.)

Game's renamed to APB: Reloaded.

So far; they have made some important progress adding a anti-cheat and fixing the boat-handling of the cars...

There's a closed beta launched, and currently Wave 1 is testers from US. It's too late to apply for beta, you'll have to wait for the open one, if you did not sign for the closed one.

Right now, I've asked for people who did apply and got keys.. like Squeak? (Or maxy, can't remember).. if they been accepted to beta yet or not.

PS: The Europe one (Wave 2) might start from March 19-23 within these days.

Hmm, The 3rd wave will be US again so don't worry.

I'm wondering for me, I got a good pc... YouGamers say that I pass everything and I can run APB Perfectly on high - max... but I haven't been chosen yet. I had pings of 1 and 1,8.. o

Yes, It will be F2P with Donator (premium) extras.

So means, if you actually enjoy the game, You'll have to pay to enjoy it more. :/ But atleast, it will be free to get a basic vehicle, full char editor. etc..

Play for 2 hours and you unlock quite alot, when you make logos on your T-shirt you need to make it with designer tool and then add it to the shirt.

I had access to Closed Beta because i "liked" it on facebook lol

Some servers are really crappy, most of them is fine with minor lagg, this game is like perfect for those who likes to have fun with a sort of "Cops and Robbers"

If you're getting really fucked up framerates try a different district server. I switched from one to another (same amount of players) and my almost gamebreaking framerate issues disappeared and I got nearly 50 fps.

That is your meaning, not everyone play after what you recomend and not, everyone has their own gaming style.

If you tried it out, and played all alone, then its not wierd why you dont like it..

Play with 3-4 friends and notice how damn fun you have.

Last week i played it for a bit , we had a team of 7 vs a team of 8, jesus that was fun !

Ok seriously I can't say this is any better, just that the cars don't steer silly anymore.

Graphics; Full 'maxinum' with advanced on 16X/8AA = 50-60FPS.. No lag on graphics, also no lag on connection, pinged some IPs that I found on the closed beta forum, came back as 80ms response :).. Which is very good.

Game has to be improved.. the bodies still go insane if you walk over them into a corner... and many other things..

Ok, I installed this last week and played for some hours, however I did not like it very much, it's not really new user friendly, the only thing you gotta do is be ready and do missions, you cannot cause material damage to vehicles, shooting other players went quite roughly.
Graphics were decent, car reflection and everything but the rest was rather ugly, especially cars.
Title: Re: APB - All Points Bulletin

Allso, did you play along with some buddys? Playing the game alone is shit :P

The vehicles is shit in the beginning, you just need to get used to them and learn how to use them.
Like forexample the buddys i play with... They hate my van, but i know deep inside they all love it because its so damn awsome to drive :)

And about new user friendly, not every game can be like Argonath :P This game is something you need to get used to, there isnt really much to know so it doesent take long till you know atleast all basics.

Well I used to play the original alone though and it was quite fun. Just wondering right now if the play for free version is better.

The last time I played on the original APB I figured out that the machine gun is good. Without it I either die or get a kill and then die but with the machine gun I am able to kill 4 people before even dieing...

Hmmm I never knew it was that fun riding people over with a vehicle... I just wish I did have someone to play with, that way I would have had even more fun.

The LMG isn't even meant to be used against people. It's an antivehicle weapon, so definitely not a good solo choice IMO.
Title: Re: APB - All Points Bulletin
Post by: shitix on July 02, 2011, 12:54:46 pm
I allways use the SHAW LMG because of the rate of fire its quite good at close - mid range, but i allways have my buddy with the AK to cover my arse if the enemy is outnumbering me :P

The ALIG LMG is the absolute best against Vehicles, it sucks ass towards infantry, i guess this weapon is only ment towards vehicles.

By the way, wich server do ya'll play on? I'm on Patriot(EU2)
Title: Re: APB - All Points Bulletin
Post by: Yihka on July 02, 2011, 06:23:26 pm
Well I meant the AK yes. xP

However when I still played the closed beta the SHAW was really good. But that was probably because the people I fought weren't that good.

Well I migrated my char to the EU1 one. It's kind of annoying that the name I used for my char is taken (And therefore the way he looks isn't important anymore)

Well looks like I am bored and since I downloaded the game yesterday I am going to try it out. I hope it's better than APB and if I do not suck as much as I think I will then it will be fun.

you buy a weapon for 10 days, costs arround 3000$.. Now after one day of gaming, you ( I ) earn arround 6-10k. And if you do that for 10 days till weapon expiers, you notice that money is never a problem :P

Keep an eye on their blog, eventually they'll finally release the PC engine upgrade.
http://apbreloaded.gamersfirst.com/

"Engine Upgrade

Now that we’ve successfully launched a version of the new Engine on the console platforms, the majority of the general engine upgrade bugs relating to game-play and rendering are fixed. Right now a full regression is being done on the PC to confirm fixes. Platform specific optimizations are being evaluated and ported to PC - including multi-threaded rendering and GPU texture generation for customization which the PC version has never had before.

Once we are done with the first pass we expect to release a new engine version that can be tested by the community on a larger scale than we can achieve internally (especially with more versions of GFX cards and CPU varieties). With the feedback from that testing, we will fix the remaining issues and finalize the engine upgrade release. This all takes time and we appreciate the patience our community has shown while we work on the Engine Upgrade and bringing it all back to the PC." Will probably still be a 100mil shitty game.
